"Occupy Fever" spreads to Albany

ALBANY - From California to the Capital Region, what began in American's commerce capital of Wall Street has sprouted into the streets of Albany. The Occupy Wall Street Movement against corporate greed is gaining strength and Albany has now popped up on their map.
Many of the local protestors showed up by design but others made there out of shear serendipity.
Their lots in life run the gambit. Some are old, some are young, some are unemployed, some are disenfranchised. Another common thread is that the global economy doesn't seem to be working for them.
"If a man has two billion dollars and we take away a billion, he's still a billionaire," says Tim Branfalt, "If you took away half of my money, you'll have three dollars and fifty cents. That's not right. That's not just. And that's what I think we all have in common here: a yearning, a fire burning for justice."
What Branfalt began with a simple Facebook message has exploded into a significant gathering of civil disobedience in Albany's Townshend Park on Sunday night, modeled after the chaos that overtook Wall Street in New York City.
"Our government is corrupt and our democracy is failing," says Britney Summit-Gil of Troy, "It has never been perfect but now it is run by corporate greed. All of our politicians are bought. If they make it on the ballot, they've already been bought by somebody and they don't work for us any more."......................>>>>........................>>>>....................http://wnyt.com/article/stories/s2310470.shtml?cat=300&utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter

Anytime someone says they want to "occupy" a place it makes me wonder if that means we can actually fight to defend the land that is ours. I don't want anyone to "occupy" my town. My town belongs to the townspeople, not outsiders who use militaristic and violent terms to threaten the citizenry.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

I'm sorry that Graham wants to deny Americans their Rights guaranteed in the US Constitution.
"Freedom of Assembly"

~ "The right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances." ~

The US Constitution is a great document Graham, you should read it sometime!

OCCUPY?

How about

SPEAK OUT?

ASSEMBLE?

PROTEST?

But OCCUPY???? Do you condone militaristic terminology that might lead to violence? Like when one of the people you hate used the term "TARGET?"

We had a show about nothing-this is a protest about nothing. These idiots should be occupying the college administration building and demanding why their tuition has gone up 800% in ten years. The interviews are hilarious. They blame everyone but pathetic Obama for their plight.

Right now you 'occupy' space on this message board.  You also 'speak out' and 'protest' here.

Occupy:

1. to take or fill up (space, time, etc.)
2. to engage or employ the mind, energy, or attention of
3. to be a resident or tenant of; dwell in
4. to take possession and control of
5. to hold

The George Worst Bush Optional War in Iraq...  was first an INVASION.

Once GWB invaded the country, killed it's people, destroyed their government and installed a puppet government, the USA occupied Iraq.
Invasion/Occupation, look em up.

I personally believe that the young people involved would expend their energies in a better-used fashion. Perhaps a voter registration drive -- specifically in the Senate District so that we could send Honolulu Hugh packing after all of these wasted years.......SUSAN SAVAGE FOR STATE SENATE!

Watching these protests makes me laugh, we have about 50 different messages trying to be heard by these groups. I seen signs from end corporate greed to Troy Davis was not guilty. I'm all for them protesting and making their concerns heard but Jesus what a mess

Was this directed at me GG, and when you say rid it what exactly do you mean here, killing me and people like me?

Come on GG, why do you think Cuomo gave her the lob job of "Assistant Deputy Commissioner for the Office of Real Property Services"? Because her time ran out. She lost and it's over.

It's a bitter pill to swallow GG, but she's not coming back.
