Incredible.

For paying the highest taxes nearly in the whole dang country and this is what the financially struggling homeowers get?   Another tax increase with no money for the park but plenty of money to pay the property and school taxes of the millioniares downtown!

The park is really good for a morning walk before work, but who in their right mind would do that and risk possibly their lives.

Thank you working together City DEMS! Highest taxes in the nation-worst streets-can't pay no City schools-can't pay no County taxes-raise every idiotic tax and fee-can't fight graffiti, pit bulls nor gang explosion {no connection?}. But they have $3.3 million for needless municipal golf course improvements. Well the $314,000 golf "pro" gotta eat right? Clean out the City Hall barn-including Tim Conway.

I'm jumping on the Riggi express here - I like the idea that children have to be taught that graffiti is illegal and a crime which needs to stop.

Union College/RPI students are volunteering to help flood victims - let's get Schenectady High students come out to Central Park and help clean it up. It will bring a sense of pride to the students and honestly, many of the Schenectady High students are caring, good hearted kids.

Taking pride where you live begins with the youth. Give them the tools and you'll be surprised what they can accomplish!!

If schenectady taxed the businesses as the metroplex promised over 10 years ago to help lower the property taxes, abolished the created patronage jobs, privatized the nursing home, privatized garbage service, negotiated the police contract responsibly, cut10% from each government department, decreased the welfare benefits........then perhaps there would be no need for 'volunteers' to do the job the government is meant and paid to do.

Absolutely! But honestly, I have no faith in the 'leaders' now. Everything is going from bad to worse and the Council has done nothing. If McCarthy is elected, I cannot foresee anything in this City getting better - taxes, neighborhoods - nothing. It's a scary thought.

You are absolutely correct. McCarthy = the status quo!!

Everyone needs to support and vote for Hull and everyone else new on the ballot. Schenectady has no choice but to give someone else a chance at bat. Cause this bunch clearly is NOT working for the people!!

The only hope for the City is if Vince Riggi finishes first for City Council and replaces pathetic tax and borrower McCarthy as Council President. If you see a light on at City Hall it means the janitor forget to turn it off. Today McCarthy says he created 3,500 jobs down 500 from Primary Day. Forget about crime end pit bulls McCarthy is now creating more home ownership opportunities by starting foreclosure on 1,200 City residents.

Of course the No New Tax party/Alliance party/Nattering NAYboobs of negativity  are upset that Mayor McCarthy is encouraging people to volunteer ----- because these folks   (MC, MT, GB, et al) have NEVER volunteered their time to help improve their community.    They are content to sit in the balcony -- like those two old men on Muppet show and whine and criticize everybody else who is volunteering and/or working to improve the community. That is quite pathetic.

What is quite pathetic is that in a City where a homeowners pays three times the amount of property taxes Scotia, Burnt Hills or Saratoga pays, the City residents need to VOLUNTEER for those jobs the City is supposed to be doing!!!

Park clean up, neighborhood and street maintenance. What the hell is the Mayor doing if he's charging triple to the homeowners but has to temporarily fix the streets? Why is Central Park is such disrepair????

If this doesn't scream corruption, I really don't know what does.

It appears that Gary McCarthy is so desperate that he actually has the nerve to ask the over burdened taxpayers to clean up the mess that he and the present administration has created!!

If Gary McCarthy were smart, and evidently that is in question, he would be hammering the city council and every city department head on exactly WHY they need to seek volunteers for a service the government should be providing.

Gary McCarthy is not a leader just like his predecessor and those presently in office. Voting for Gary McCarthy will be voting for the status quo!

The best thing would be to put the NAYboobs on a chain gang ... and make them work 10 hours a day cleaning the parks --- with an 15 minute lunch and 20 minute supper break ---  bread and water only -- and MAYBE two 2 minute potty breaks (don't forget to bring a baggy to clean up after your potty break)  a day IF they are on good behavior.
