Obama's War On Terror: Civil Libertarians Decry Being 'Stabbed In The Back' By Awlaki Decision First Posted: 10/10/11 06:49 PM ET Updated: 10/10/11 09:48 PM ET
WASHINGTON -- Civil libertarians are expressing dismay over a new report that names two prominent one-time critics of the abuse of presidential power as the forces behind a controversial memo authorizing Obama to assassinate an American citizen.
The memo, described Sunday in an article in The New York Times, was reportedly signed by David Barron and Marty Lederman, two law professors who frequently challenged President Bush's legal stances on his war powers before joining the Obama Office of Legal Counsel.
"It's always more painful for civil libertarians to be stabbed in the back by a friend," said Jonathan Turley, a scholar at George Washington University law school who has long been a fierce opponent of expansive interpretations of executive powers. "There's a real feeling of the Ides of March, that the Obama administration has enlisted civil libertarians to sort of do its dirty work."..................>>>>........................>>>>..................http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/10/10/obamas-war-on-terror-awlaki_n_1004161.html

America citizens Clyde Barrow and Bonnie Parkier were shot and killed in an ambush after numerous attempts capture the duo alive ended in the killing of police and innocent civilians. The pair were wanted in 100 or more felony criminal actions during her two-year career in crime including eight murders, seven kidnappings, half-a-dozen bank robberies, scores of felony armed robberies, countless automobile thefts, one major jailbreak and an episode of assault and battery at a time when being a "habitual criminal" was a capital offense in Texas. |

There were arrest warrants issued. I don't understand your point? Have they disclosed Al Awlaki's evidence that constituted a death sentence? Oh, that's right, it was a top secret covert operation carried out by the CIA. |

Both were dangerous American citizens that couldn't be apprehended by more typical means without endangering US officers. Neither had been tried or convicted, and both had proven themselves to be dangerous. |

On tonights CBS news there was a report about a terrorist suspect who attempted to blow up the US Capitol. As the report continued, the topic of why there are markedly fewer of this type of attacks in the last year. The reply was that Anwar al-Awlaqi, who was a major factor in these type of attacks, was killed in a Predator attack in Yemen. |

Yes, they were dangerous, and they have court records proving it...with arrest warrants, grand jury trials, prison, prison escapes. You know, and all that other useless due process. In hindsight, box would have droned Clyde after committing his first robbery, no trial necessary.
If you believe in due process, you support career criminals like bonnie and Clyde. |

Of course it is... of course. It's always the conspiracy, never the fact. But suppose there actually were less attacks... how could you tell between the conspiracy and the facts??? Or doesn't it matter for you? |

I guess Bush's "war on Islamic terrorism" works. Gitmo worked, and "enhanced" interrogations worked, and warrantless wiretapping worked. They need to book box on the Hannity Show discussing Bush terror policy success. Box is a good foreign policy neocon. |

You can't state a FACT.....when it is never reported in the first place... |

And it's not 'reported in the first place'... because of the MSM conspiracy... probably orchestrated by Socialists like Obama! Of course it is! |

Of course it is!
And if it was reported by FOX News that terror attacks were UP...You of course would go on one of your FOX rants saying Foxsnooze, blahh..blahh..l.blahh...vast right wing conspiracy. Blah, Blah, Blah...Koch Brothers, Blah, Blah, Blah... It really doesn't matter if it wasn't reported, if it was reported, or who reports it...It is all propaganda fodder used to support or oppose a political argument. One fact that cannot be denied is this...The president targeted a U.S. citizen for assassination without due process on claims of imminent threat. Yet we have not one shred of evidence from this administration proving imminent threat. And we have Obama cheerleaders defending assassinations of U.S. citizens and the death of due process for that matter. And this wasn't reported by a bias media outlet, the administration flaunted it with a press announcement. And American's like box sat their nodding their heads in approval like good lemmings. First they came for the Communists, but I was not a Communist so I did not speak out. Then they came for the Socialists and the Trade Unionists, but I was neither, so I did not speak out. Then they came for the Jews, but I was not a Jew so I did not speak out. \ Then they came for the "Terrorist", but I was not a terrorist so I did not speak out And when they came for me, there was no one left to speak out for me. |

it matters....that's why I always question....and conspiracy as an actual thought out process as a whole I dont agree with....it's the small simple changes/acceptances that are so insidious that they add up, so to speak....muddying the waters so as not to see the original intent/desired outcome....kind of like underwater splunking..... back up for back up for back up and more back up...... |
