Monday, September 26, 2011 Mayoral hopeful has pet issues By Kathleen Moore
SCHENECTADY — Another mayoral election year, another Schenectady cat running for office.
But this time, the cat isn’t talking about the sorts of issues that are aggravating humans in the city.
Roger is running for office to stop his fellow pets from procreating.
Owner Kathy Fitzmaurice, who runs the Katbird Shop in downtown Schenectady, is holding campaign fundraisers for Roger, with all proceeds going to pay for spaying and neutering at the Animal Protective Foundation.
She’s also printing bumper stickers and signs for Roger to pass on the message all pet owners should spay or neuter their animals, even if they never intend to let the pets go outside alone.
“What if something happens? What if he gets out? What if there’s a flood and your cat is left on his own?” she said.
This is not the first time Fitzmaurice has been involved in a mayoral pet campaign. Her cat Sparky ran for office four years ago, but died of kidney failure before Election Day.
Sparky’s campaign took Fitzmaurice by surprise. A friend jokingly began hanging up “Sparky for mayor” signs and, once the media began calling, Fitzmaurice said she would stand in as Sparky’s translator....................>>>>..........................>>>>................https://www.dailygazette.com/news/2011/sep/26/0926mayoral-cat/?mobile
See? And we thought that national healthcare wasn't needed. If, in fact, National Healthcare would have passed years ago, Sparky would now be mayor of Schenectady and things would be so much better.
I wonder, she owns a shop where she sells animals, do all the animals she has have their appropriate licenses / paperwork taken care of? Maybe she's part of the REASON there's so many pit bull issues in the city, right?
Roger the Cat probably knows more about running a city than Roger Hull and Vince Riggi combined.

A hull is the outside of a seed....when it sprouts the hull is pushed away and left behind is a new plant.....
and I bet Mr.Hull has the class, integrity to leave behind that plant,,,,unlike the rusty gumba gangstas that would prefer to keep that plant in a closet just for them and their croonies at the club Soprano.....
JMHO......
...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......
The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.
STOP BEING GOOD DEMOCRATS---STOP BEING GOOD REPUBLICANS--START BEING GOOD AMERICANS

If this idiot clown known as Rony Severe ever stepped foot into a debate with either of these two men, he would come away mentally bleeding. Roger Hull is about 875,000 times more accomplished, acute, aware, informed and able than man-boy that it would be excruciating to see. Vince Riggi knows more ABOUT city government than any man alive. Sadly sycophantic socialists like clown man have organized the welfare recipients, the minorities, and the CONFUSED (not frail, just confused and mentally slow) elderly enough to make them think the sky is red, water is dry and day is night. So it is hard to say whether enough of these 'voters' will support a change, but with only 38% of the electorate paying property taxes, it is a tough chance. I will admit that. But hearing suck suckholes like Ron Severson say such clap it makes you really wonder why we even try. Such is the idiocy of todays white male.
"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."
Roger is certainly an accomplished man, well respected and all. i am sure he would do fine as mayor,. but i do not think he will win..l the numbers are against him...
Mr. Riggi is Schenectady's version of Kelly Rhinesmith -- a misguided pain in the a**.

Wow DV, guess if you can't attack someone with common sense, just use elementary school name calling. Classy!
Vince Riggi has more honesty and integrity than anyone on the City Council right now. Here's a man that can change the face of the City with fiscal responsibility and without political party ties.
Guess it is scary to some when a decent person tries to infiltrate and end a legacy of corruption and waste. I'm not scare, actually, I'm relieved.
Well, Roger has a little over a month. If McCarthy keeps coming up with ideas like a $3 million dollar golf course and getting an extra secretary to field complaints - the numbers could change.
