Lawmakers want to refund taxes
Tedisco, Farley propose bill to eliminate sales tax on flood recovery expenses

#Capital District — Flood victims could have another reprieve for their wallet as two local state representatives seek to remove sales tax on items key to reaching normalcy again.

#Assemblyman James Tedisco, R-Glenville, and Senator Hugh Farley, R-Niskayuna, introduced legislation on Tuesday, Sept. 20, to eliminate state sales tax on “essentials” for victims of Tropical Storms Irene and Lee. Sales tax credits are proposed for replacing sump pumps, furnaces, refrigerators, washers, dryers, dehumidifiers, boilers, furniture, construction material, clothing and moving expenses, including renting a truck and storage.

#Tedisco said the influx of revenue coming from flood victim purchases was obviously not anticipated by state officials, so the state should not profit off families making needed purchases as they rebuild from the disasters.

#“The state stands to earn a windfall in sales tax revenue from all the thousands of New Yorkers who must rebuild their lives. This is money that was not anticipated and would never have been part of the state coffers, therefore the state should not profit off the backs of the victims of these disasters,” said Tedisco in a statement.

Honolulu Hugh is making a grand FOOL of himself again....The local government will suffer if these regular collections are not made and of course the elderly, many of whom are frail -- and many others will fall by the way-side due to his bad planning and GRANDSTANDING........

I would prefer is he would just stay a B movie actor and leave working families alone and not do any more harm to us --

When Reps propose a plan to ease the pain of those who were flooded out it will make the frail elderly suffer, but when a Dem offers a similar plan they are heroes. What a hypocrite.

Just think! THAT could have been SUE SAVAGE!!! No wonder you are upset, Gertie! You would have been her body servant and made all of her demands to the director and producer! You would have made sure that she had a private trailer, vegetarian meals, tickets to the spa, a masseuse, a limo to shuttle her there, goodie bags for all her kids, air conditioning in her dressing room, the best makeup artist available (still couldn't make her eye look like they aren't too close together), BPA-free Perrier bottles, and tickets to the premier showing in Hollywood for the ENTIRE DEMOCRAP COMMITTEE!

'oh, please please please volunteer. I wouldn't want to cut taxes thereby cutting my entitlements and salary, not to mention the salaries and entitlements of the rest of the posse'
