Who said it will be uncontested?

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

I'm overjoyed that someone else is running for Town Clerk and really appreciate your DIY approach Todd. I also appreciate that someone running for office in town has the guts to come on a forum like this using their real name. It's refreshing and now a couple of questions.

1. What are your qualifications for the position of town clerk.
2. Any ideas on how you can improve the operation of the clerks office, and in your mind just what are the duties and responsibilities of Rotterdam Town Clerk.

Personally I'm not quite sure that positions such as Town Clerk and Highway Superintendent should be elected positions. It seems to me that those types of jobs need to have very qualified folks doing them.

3. Would you be in favor of not having these 2 positions as elected offices?

Thanks in advance and good luck.

One needs to read, write  and know the alphabet for filing.
Pretty good for $50K/year.
Oh....and you need to know is someone is dead or alive before notarizing.

$50k....wow!!! An even better reason to take this out of the voting booth. What about Highway? How much is that worth?

BTW My questions are real. I don't know Todd from Adam, so I'd like to know his views, experience etc. I'd ask these questions of anyone running. At least Todd's here. Where are the other candidate/s?

This year the town clerk position was budgeted for $50,350.  The Deputy Town Clerk was scheduled to make $32,500.  The total expenses for the office in the budget, including salaries and supplies that were needed was a total of $107,570.

(page 7 of this year's budget, which can be found @ http://www.rotterdamny.org/pdf/Adopted2011Budget.pdf)

I don't know  how much this office actually cost this year with the stepping down of the former town clerk and the replacement with the former Deputy into the position.  Also, I don't believe that the Deputy Town Clerk position was backfilled.
