we can;t always depend on walmart to create the jobs for us, especially walmart with its less than liveable wage and no fringe package. but that is where we are headed
dont disagree.....however when leaders speak it's as if they speak from the bottom of a well.......they have investments in walmart and the likes via their pensions and such---GUARANTEED BY THE TAXPAYERS even if walmart and the like do worse on the market......
so I really see no truth to their rhetoric.....I get it that we need leaders and rules,,,,,BUT,,,,this has gone on far enough.....I'm not blaming McCarthy alone nor any specific party,,,why? because they are all privy to the info yet DO NOTHING......Glenville ISN'T THE FIRST.....fees/surcharges still equal increased GOVERNMENT FEED.......relabeling doesn't count as great budgeting.....
this is a generational issue.....both on account of seed laid and global changes....but for local leaders to internalize the issues and continue on with the 'status quo' for their gumbas makes things worse.....
dont 'uplift' my spirit like your a cheerleader.....I didn't elect you to be my cheerleader.....I elected you to toe the line and keep it buttoned down and tight......my ears are tingling from all the tickling.....I CANT TAKE ANYMORE......

Walmart- Evil. Target-Renaissance? The more they post the less sense they make. If possible. Glenville jobs are not Downtown private sector jobs McCarthy was caught bragging on.

This country doesn't manufacture a damn thing anymore. It's pretty pathetic when municipalities get all tingly when they hear that a target or walmart is going to move in. Stores filled with products manufactured in other countries. Unfortunately, we are the biggest consumers in the world. But now with no jobs to speak of, taxes out of control, retirement funds in the crapper....no body can afford the cheap crap. Globally....we have absolutely nothing to offer........NOTHING!

It seems that the powers that be are banking all future employment in this country on the nano/tech industry. Buying time until this generational transformation takes place, retooling us all and the up and coming generation to do the same things we do daily just a different vehicle to use to that end. I.E. e-mail over the post office, APPS. etc. But you cannot get a nano to make a couch, lawn mower, bicycle or any of the other "hard" goods we purchase on a daily basis. And if these items are to be imported more and more it will only stand to reason that employment will never be what it once was, despite the nano revolution. P.S. with this claim of job creation with such a good ratio of it, perhaps the current Federal adm. could be let in on the secret of this "success".

It's true. We don't manufacture a damn thing!!! We will probably never see it again in our life time. But since we don't manufacture anything....how about going back to our roots........FARMING!!! no? Let's feed the world!!

The bottomline is that ALL of Schenectady County benefits from economic development in ANY part of the county. The 4,000 new jobs in the county benefit the city and every town ... wherever the jobs are created.
We are all in this boat together -- we sink or sail together -- only the NNTP/Alliance Party/nayboobs don't know anything about cooperation and working together as a community .. the ego-centric nayboobs will not lift a pinky to help their neighbors and would rather tear down the community with their lies and misinformation.

are the 4000 jobs homeowners, renters or subsidised?

The bottom line is that Metrograft is a total failure. It hasn't created anything to cheer about. Except higher sales taxes which negatively impact the poorer residents the most. No new retail has been opened Downtown. Schenectady County has the highest taxation, unemployment and poverty rates in the region. Failed do nothings can lie all they want. The so called nayboobs are right again just as they were about Spiro Agnew.
That is like saying you have the floatingest turd in the septic.
"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."
The interesting thing is that the first and second biggest hypocrites in the county - Hugh Farley and Bob Farley - attack Metroplex when it suits them to get votes in one place .. and then they claim credit for all of Metroplex's accomplishments to get votes in another place.
The NNTP/Alliance/nayboobs are similar in their hypocrisy --- if they were ever allowed to hold office (and thank God and the voters that won't happen) they would overnight become quite fond of Metroplex and would USE it for their own power grabbing advantage.

Then why is the County Leg raising taxes if they're creating so much business and sales tax?
As senders says, politicians should not be getting a pat on the back when businesses come to the area. On the contrary, the Metroplex has perverted itself and morphed into a political payback scheme for certain businessowners. It's no longer about development or the welfare of the City, it's about connected political players getting as much money as they can without anyone questioning the long-term impact on the City or the taxpayers.
It's economically unsound, it hasn't helped the City taxpayers at all and dubbing this a Renaissance is merely fiction at its finest.
