Proctors to host storm loss benefit SCHENECTADY — A benefit concert for area victims of the recent storms, set for Thursday, Sept. 22, has been moved to Proctors. It was originally scheduled at the Palace Theater in Albany. Capital Region Relief, featuring Ten Year Vamp, The Audiostars, The Fighting 86s, Garland Nelson & Soul Session, The Chris Dukes Band, Joe Roy Jackson, and Ernie Williams, will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. at Proctors Main Stage at 432 State St. Tickets are $10 and can be bought at the door, or in advance at the Proctors Box Office, via Proctors charge-by-phone (346-6204), or online at http://www.proctors.org. All money raised will go to the Red Cross of Northeastern New York, for use in the immediate Capital Region area. Proctors is a drop-off point for Project Hope 2011/Community Stakeholder Food and Supply, a regional food and supply drive led by a group of businesses and non-profi t agencies including the United Way and the Schenectady Mission. Those attending the Capital Region Relief concert are asked to bring donations for Project Hope. Acceptable items are: Non-perishable food and canned goods, laundry and dish detergent, bottled water, diapers and baby wipes, baby food, gift cards, paper towels, and children’s DVDs. In order to ensure the health and safety of the recipients of donations, Project Hope cannot accept used clothing, toys or stuffed animals.

They should be hosting this benefit. Proctors does after all....belong to the taxpayers of schenectady county. No different then the fire houses and schools....yes? The taxpayer supports them all. |

How much is Proctors donating to the victims? Are they matching the proceeds collected? Or, are they just holding the event at the building that doesn't pay taxes and the building that the county residents paid MILLIONS to fund? Very generous Morris. |

This is another brilliant strategic move to stimulate downtown's economy. A benefit for the flood victims that can perhaps bring foot traffic to that area. Like they say.....never waste a crisis! |

Shhhhhh don't give them any ideas they might raise our taxes to do so I won't go to the concert because I wouldn't trust them with my money but I will be donating food to this. |
