The Republicans in Rotterdam (mcGarry, Longo, Tomaselli, Villano, Abbot and Marchinkowski) are used to telling people "it can't be done" -- that's because they don't have the experience, problem-solving skills, group work skills and most importantly -- the true spirit of America -- the "can do spirit". They use buzzwords like lower taxes and less government -- but since they don't even know the basics of how government actually operates -- they have no hope of actually lowering taxes or reducing the size of government.
Turning down the Pine Grove District #5 expansion plan WILL NOT BRING LOWER TAXES. The district will still need the same tax rate to deliver their public safety service but they won't be able to ensure the safety of firefighters by having the necessary decontamination showers ... they won't be able to provide residents with the assurance of the uninterrupted 21ST CENTURY fire technology because their back-up generator and communications equipment will remain dangerously BELOW not only the 500 year flood level but the 100 year flood level and they won't have the ability to house the newer, larger version of fire fighting vehicles when the time comes to replace the 20+ year old fire fighting vehicles.
So basically -- it is a LOSE LOSE proposition that McGarry, Tomaselli, Villano, Abbot and Marchinkowski are offering the voters ----- under Republicans taxes will not be any lower and quality of public safety will be dangerously compromised. |

Talking to several folks in dist #5............they said they would vote it down. not needed. Too expensive. Can't afford the taxes. Not to mention that the rotterdam town budget will come with a hefty tax increase in 2012.....no more taxes wanted is their mantra. |

Watch the vote go down in flames, people in the district just plain can't afford any more tax increases considering that their school taxes keep increasing along with everything else. |

Turning down the Pine Grove District #5 expansion plan WILL NOT BRING LOWER TAXES.
But if approved it WILL CERTAINLY BRING HIGHER TAXES. Taxes that the people can not afford. Decontamination showers? They have a whole truck full of water with a hose on it. Generator to close to the flood plane? Put some blocks under it. Common sense. We all have to tighten our belts and work to save money for a while. When the economy turns around we call all spend willy nilly again |

Are you really as stupid as this post suggests ???? You could seriously injure or a kill a person if you tried to use a hose to shower them. And just putting the generator up on blocks will not raise it high enough to be above the flood line --- you seriously need to actually SEE the plan and talk to the firefighters at District #5 GET INFORMED |

They are expecting the SAME folks who voted down a REMS taxing district to vote yes for a firehouse that is clearly not needed....not now anyways. Rotterdamians are catching on the the 'sky is falling' rhetoric. The folks voted down a REMS taxing district and yet no one is bleeding to death in the streets....OMG! |

A generator can be built up on a platform and put as high as they want it. I can tell DV has never used a fire hose because the are able to be adjusted from a fog to a stream with the push of the handle even the larger 2 1/2" lines. The trucks also have 3/4" lines and 1 1/2" lines on them as well and they operate at much less pressure and both are capable of washing off people or equipment. Nice try DV. |

You know nothing about the dangers of being a First Responder. In the old days the First Responders would bring you out and have you horsewhipped --- and be roundly applauded for it --- by the entire town! |
