Why would it lose money? Were the property taxes too high and were there not enough customers? With a booming renaissance there should have been low taxes and many new customers in the growing renaissance town that Schit City is made out to be. But no.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

Seemed to do pretty well while Price Choppers "Community Center" was located there.

Hmm - did they relocate that service to the community?

Make comments but provide no proof.....as usual.

We all provide proof of what we say, provide the proof.

So anyhow- why did FIRESIDE PIZZA close ?

I talked to the person I was going to go there with when they visited the area next.

They said it made sense.  It use to be that there was a line of people waiting to eat there during peak times.

Last time he went there was like once other table occupied upstairs.  (He probably went at a later time of the night during the week - but still the place was essentially totally empty)

Hard to say exactly what it is all blamed on.

That place use to have a little bit of a night life...  Now I think that business is downtown at Bomber's, Appertivo, Bangkok Thai, KOB's, etc...  So the taxpayer subsidy of some of those businesses certainly didn't help The Fireside, but I'm sure it was deeper than that...  Like the decline of the neighborhood, among other things.

Maybe it was just from a drop of business.  I know we used to go there occassionally, but the last time we went, my other half was upset once they saw that the monitors had been placed for everyone to have a good look at the screens for quick draw.  It was a deterrent from people being able to concentrate on why they were there, to enjoy the food and the company.  We hadn't gone back since that visit, which may have been a couple years now.  Too bad.  It was a nice little place, but it also always had an issue with finding room to park.  Parking out back made you feel as though you were parking in an alley and didn't know who you would run into on your way out.

The decline in the area is one major reason. The other is the deliberate shift of taxpayers money to support, develop and relocate similar businesses downtown. While Nero fiddles................

This plague of crime and deterioration of neighborhoods affects more than just the homeowners, but it slowly eats away at the City - block by block. Come on, the corner building caught fire and a person was found dead in the rubble? I'd certainly want my business out of there.

If you have neighborhoods where taxpayers don't want to live and where businesses are fleeing, you no longer have a City, you have one massive slum.

Fireside was a business with a lot of "regulars" and the "regulars" have been dwindling due to the changing demographics in the neighborhood, I believe.
It is relevant when a business in decline struggles to stay in business while having to pay the same high taxes as when the area was booming, while other businesses don't have that to worry about. Which businesses are worthy of propping up by the taxpayers and who gets to decide? In this specific situation none of us know the details, but we all see our money poured into black holes that someone decided were important.

yep,, thank god it is closed. another bad business is gone, making room for the renaissance to continue,. a business owner who won;t scam the state and his staff will likely take over the site, add jobs and expand the tax base.. ahh,,, it will be wonderful.. now if only we could get rid of a certain candy shop on albany street.

And how much tax money are the dems and their millionaire cornies downtown scammning off the financially struggling homeowners?????????    Tell us???????

And tell us HOW the theft from the homeowners has helped the tax base in the city"??????????   Explain why assessment values are down while the tax bills are up?????

And DON'T give me the crap you posted recently.   Sales in one lone month in 2010 and one lone month in 2011 is NOT reflective of the values.   But a range of six months in one year compared with a range of six months in the following year IS an indicator.

Yes, a threat to be remembered. And documented. I am sure the owner will be pleased to see that a certain connected political crony is threatening to get rid of a taxpaying business. I know you checked, maybe they don't pay their property taxes? Maybe you can seize them? Maybe you can send the police? Maybe you can use the law department to shut them down because of their political beliefs? Just maybe. Keep making threats to destroy someone. Please, keep doing that!

Another bad business gone? So, Cornell's doesn't count as a bad business because is hasn't paid over 1.3 million in taxes and loans...or is it because the Plex is involved with Cornells and not the Fireside.

How about the DSIC going to businesses all over the City demanding them to join DSIC for a few hundred of dollars a year? They claim that they upkeep sidewalks and promote City businesses. Sounds like the Mafia demanding protoection money to me.

If you don't pay you can't play?
