Fireside Pizza is the latest victim of Death Ray Gillen's small business holocaust (aka The Renaissance) and it has apparently succumbed within the past few weeks. Another landmark, another shuttered business that had to carry the tax load for the downtown renaissance vision of the Schenectady Democrapic Party.

I am sure Death Ray will say it is a good thing. A bodega or "gangsta" nightclub will probably take its place, catering to some mix of legal and illegal Caribbean immigrants who have a shoot-em-up and kill-em worldview filled with bloodshed and violence.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

Haven't been there in a few years, rather scary to go over there, but they had really good potato skins IOHO.

But, their neighbor a couple doors away, who is always tax delinquent, combined wtith that neighbor leaving the taxpayers to foot the bill for demolition of his buiding, combined with tax exemptions for the cronies of plex, city, and county, obviously it was too much for Fireside, just like it's too much for the homeonwers

Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent.
Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and
speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

GB sometimes you're just too darn negative...

Don't you realize that it doesn't really matter since they aren't downtown?

Seriously though - this is a tragedy.  That place was a landmark, especially back in the day.

Great pizza, great food, great atmosphere, great service................bad area!!!
Many folks stopped going there a few years ago because the area declined so badly.
There are folks just waiting in the pc parking lot to either buy or sell you drugs or rip the jewelry off your body!!!
But hell............the lion king played at proctors.........hurray!!

OK what's the lesson?.......BACK IN THE DAY.....however, back in the day they said the F'EN masses could 'retire' on SS.......

MOVE ON FOLKS.!................................F'EN MOVE ON!...........................................NO MATTER THE PARTY...THEY ARE THE SAME....

"Well, it isn't downtown so that is a plus, meaning we can concentrate our commercial district into the downtown and continue the renaissance and leave the neighbors to remain as residential havens of peace and quiet. Most of the neighbors don't WANT businesses near them there so we here at democrap HQ (Metroplex offices) are thrilled at what we see as a positive win-win."

When you have a property tax load like what Schenectady small businesses are forced to carry to keep the democrap patronage workers in gravy then you have trouble paying bills.

Honestly we haven't been there in about 5 years.  Why? We avoid that area at all costs as many other folks do also. Perhaps they would have done better if they relocated to a better area, if they were able to.
