Schalmont hosting collection drive to provide flood relief Donations to help local families --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
August 31, 2011—The Schalmont Central School District is calling on the community's generosity to help local families affected by Tropical Storm Irene.
The storm caused severe flooding and damage throughout Schenectady and Schoharie counties, displacing a number of Schalmont families, staff and businesses.
A collection drive is currently underway. Donations of clothing, household items, cleaning supplies (bleach, mops), toiletries, first-aid supplies and non-perishable food may be dropped off at Jefferson Elementary School during school hours as well as throughout the evening. Money gift cards (American Express, Visa etc.) are also welcome.
District officials are confident the school community will pull together to help those in the area who have lost so much in the past few days.

Were are these poor folks going to go by the time school opens next week?

That's something I've been thinking of lately, too. IDK. I was wondering if the opening of school would be delayed until these people could be moved home or to another location, but I do thanks others at the school district for helping out at this time.
