So forget about the blood diamonds- this isn't even about the wood- it is SPECIFICALLY about the fingerboard blanks that are PARTIALLY finished in India- INDIAN LAW says they cant be exported INDIAN LAW requires ALL the work be done in INDIA before it is exported- if they finish the fingerboard in india they are OK-
If they send it partially finished and an American worker works on it thats not OK-

Lets try it this way- under the Lacey Act and International Manufacturing Law you can purchase raw goods legally from India however if you have them start milling the fret board and the finished product is NOT Manufactured in India it is deemed Illegal subject to criminal prosecution. I will guess Gibson was trying to use some cheap Indian labor to get some of the rough work done first. I will not buy an Indian Made Gibson. It is apparent this law is counterproductive to manufacturing in the used to be Good Ole USA
