Quoted from Smoking Bananas
He letter suggested the committee snubbed Mr. Amedore for political reasons.

In the end, they did.

Amedore "did not indicate his desire to speak"?!?

From what this letter says, the Committe didn't ask him. Apparently, no one asked him. That's a snub.

I never said it mentioned anything about tables or cakes --- what I said is that politicians shouldn't think they are so important that they can ignore  requests for an r.s.v.p.  and then just waltz in and demand a place in the program.

Quite frankly -- future programs honoring 9-11 victims should just have non-politicians .. maybe school children ..  speaking.    We don't need more speeches from politicians.

Today's students, in 5-6-7th grade, don't even know what happened on 9/11 - it's a date in history to them. Heck, most 5th graders weren't even alive at that point.  In 10 years, you'll have a hard time finding "school children" that even remember what 9/11 was.  Our generation will never forget - but kids of today could care less.

from the above letteR:

At the beginning of the event Assemblyman Amedore arrived and did not indicate his desire to take part. It would have been our honor to have our assemblyman take part in this wonderful memorial

So he shows up, thinking that his reply to the invitation was rec'd.....but he doesn't go to anyone and say "Hey, I'd like to speak to the crowd"...how is that bad.  Why didn't someone from the committee go up to him and say, we didn't know you were coming becuase we never got a reply to our invitation, but since you did we would love it if you would say a few words.....  how hard would that have been?!

The whole thing coulda been so simple instead of being a politically charged bunch of nonsense with letters to the editor and everything.

Back when I was in elementary school,   5th 6th and 7th graders  didn't know much about American History and Polish History --- yet students from our school competed in competitions  -- by doing research and writing essays -- and then reading them at major regional events  such as the Annual Pulaski Day events that used to be sponsored by the PNA and PAC.

So -- my recommendation -- don't ask any politician to speak -- have a 9-11 Essay Contest .. and let the young people speak at the event.

This has to be the most pressing issue in the county. NOT...Everyone already knows how small the petty the democraps are when they have an "announcement" or a "ceremony" and how they ignore and cut out the opposing party. It is old news. No one cares if they are not already paying attention to the hijinks of this junta.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

Bottom line...........mcclaine's committee didn't follow up and do their job!! It isn't about GA.............it could have been ANYONE and mcclaine would have still written the letter. It is a CYA letter.........plain and simple.

Mertzie, you are just upset that you weren't invited to speak.

ABSOLUTE TRUTH......not that they wont care but the 'fear' is in them thanks to their fear mongering parents and rhetoric burned upon their brains.......and the leadership lingo.....

If anyone spoke it should have been someone from the vfw and someone who is presently serving in uniform. And I thought this wasn't a project started by a private citizen....yes? If that is true, what was the local politicos doing getting involved?

I wouldn't sell our young folks short --- there are many young people who volunteer in various capacities to help out their community.   Many young people are also very interested in local history and in honoring 9-11 victims and veterans ..............
we just need to give our young people more opportunities to PARTICIPATE in these events.  Let the young people be a part of the committees that plan these events .. let the young people take a role in the ceremonies .. my bet is that you will be amazed to see how well they will step up to the occasion
