"30 days", means she will automatically get out in 20, unless she commits some seriously heinous act while she's in there.
"45 days", to be served on weekends. Again, it's actually 30 days with the standard good behavior allowance. Here is the thing about weekends though. You are credited for a full day, no matter what time you arrive, or are released. Sooooo, routinely, they get there at 6PM on Friday, go to sleep at about 10PM, and wake up at about 7AM on Saturday. Saturday, they go to sleep at 10PM, and wake up at 7AM on Sunday. On Sunday, they have breakfast, lunch, and then go home at 4PM.
So in reality, they only serve one full day in jail per weekend. Out of a 72 hour "weekend", they only serve 46 hours, and 18 hours of that is spent in bed. They spend a grand total of 28 waking hours, per weekend, in jail.
We will get our wish and vote AGAINST this turd since he is running fr higher office- Supreme Court Judge (which is where civil lawsuits are argued in the county) Of course we need conservative judges there b/c these are the turd who rule on ambulance chasing and frivolous lawsuits.
"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."
Dog owner urged to reflect Tirado, whose pit bulls attacked woman, begins serving 30 days in jail By Paul Nelson Updated 10:18 p.m., Friday, March 23, 2012
SCHENECTADY — A judge told the owner of three pit bulls that savaged a woman last year that he hopes she would take some time during her 30-day jail sentence to reflect on how her irresponsibility in controlling her dogs has had an indelible impact on the victim.
"This is the kind of thing that somebody has to live with for the rest of their life," City Court Judge Mark Blanchfield told the defendant, Jasmine Tirado, 21, who appeared Friday with her attorney, Heather Gray. She declined comment afterward.
During the court appearance, Tirado pleaded guilty to a total of three misdemeanor dangerous dog charges under the city ordinance related to two separate incidents. In one instance, her dogs attacked another dog in 2010, then in August they mauled Shirleen Lucas so badly that the woman needed 200 stitches.
The defendant surrendered Friday to begin serving her jail time.
Under the plea bargain, Tirado was also ordered to pay about $2,000 in fines to the city and for medical costs related to the dog-on-dog attack. The figure does not include any compensation for Lucas, 58, who has filed a notice of claim against the city and others for the attack which occurred early around 1 a.m. Aug. 22 as she walked on Hulett Street in the Hamilton Hill neighborhood.....................>>>>.................>>>>.................Read more: http://www.timesunion.com/local/article/Dog-owner-urged-to-reflect-3430902.php#ixzz1q1sz9dbj
SCHENECTADY Victim of dog attack files suit City, landlord among those named in action BY STEVEN COOK Gazette Reporter
A woman seriously mauled by three pit bulls in August 2011 in Hamilton Hill has now fi led suit against the dogs’ owner, landlord and the city of Schenectady, alleging all three had notice of the dogs’ prior vicious behavior but took no action to prevent it. Shirleen Lucas filed suit last week in state Supreme Court in Schenectady County, seeking unspecified damages from all three. Lucas was attacked Aug. 22, 2011 as she was running predawn errands on Hulett Street. The attack left Lucas facing a series of surgeries to repair her appearance and left initial wounds that required 200 stitches to close. Family members have said the process of surgeries resulting from the wounds could take as long as two years to complete. The basis for the claim against the city dates back more than a year before the Lucas attack, to April 2010. Then, Jasmine Tirado, the dogs’ owner, was cited by the city when one of the dogs got loose and attacked another dog. “The defendant, Schenectady Police Department, took no action to mitigate the existence of the dangerous animals despite knowing the risk that they presented to the pedestrians and public,” the Lucas suit reads. Tirado was cited in that case, but never showed up for court, authorities have said. It was only after the August 2011 attack on Lucas that authorities returned to the old case. PLEA DEAL Tirado, 21, wrapped up both the August 2011 and April 2010 accusations of harboring dangerous dogs in a plea earlier this year. For both, she was sentenced to 30 days in jail and fi ned $2,200. The sentence, city offi cials said then, was the longest in memory for a dangerous dog case. It was also appropriate considering Tirado’s history, offi cials said. City officials this week said they had yet to be served with the suit and declined to comment. The suit was filed Nov. 16. Also named as defendants are Tirado and Kamie Harrypersaud. Harrypersaud is identified as the owner of Tirado’s apartment house on Hulett Street. When Lucas was attacked, neighbors heard her anguished screams and called police. Offi cers found the badly injured woman on the sidewalk surrounded by three dogs, which apparently escaped from the rear of Tirado’s property. Police had to use Tasers to subdue the animals. ....................>>>>...................>>>>....................http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r01300&AppName=1
She should really sue the current mayor and the former mayor - PERSONALLY. They, and the council too, were too busy dealing with the downtown millionaires, working on how to make homeowners in the neighborhoods pay more of the costs for downtown, while ignoring these problems in the neighborhoods.
Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent. Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.
Great! That's what I said! About time someone is looking at the G.D. slumlords as being responsible for the problems they are enabling. Responsible landlords would NEVER allow someone to keep three dogs at a multiple unit dwelling where the dog owner didn't have sole control of whether or not the gate was locked. It's too bad that we the taxpayers ultimately have to pay for this, but her action will save others from a similar nightmare.
