For a renter? Paul V and Melody Burns devoted their entire shows on Talk 1300 to the Schenectady pit bull attack. Guess the DEM boycott did not pan out. Front page in both papers. But it's still a yawner to an idiot here.
If the City is put on notice of a dangerous condition within their City (in this case, other pit bull attackes, editorials written to the Gazetto), maybe this woman has a case against Schenectady.
I dont think having a case against a city/town etc would win....
1. she lives here? so she knows about those kinds of animals.
2. she could have moved to another nicer city/town etc.
3. it's not up to the government to bandage our lives.
however,,,,the owners should be on notice by the leaders that, that kind of status is wrong. where are the local leaders of the area....I mean the grass roots leaders of the streets? where is the personal respect in the community? unfortunately we have football players that continue on their million dollar road as 'leaders' and 'spokes persons' for what?

As dogs mauled her, she prayed Victim of vicious pit bull attack recounts horrific ordeal and her will to live By PAUL NELSON Staff writer Published 12:05 a.m., Friday, August 26, 2011
SCHENECTADY -- Even with three pit bulls tearing at her flesh, Shirleen Lucas never doubted she would live.
"I was screaming for my life and saying, 'I'm not going out like this,'" she recounted Thursday from the living room of her city home, not far from the spot where the three dogs pounced on her early Monday morning. "It seemed like I couldn't scream loud enough."
Her pastor, the Rev. Clarence Samuels Johnson of Refreshing Spring Church of God in Christ, who had come to check up on her, sat on a couch across the room listening to her story.
The woman's harrowing ordeal began around 12:15 a.m. Monday when she left her Lincoln Avenue home to get money from the ATM at Zaid Discount near the corner of Albany and Hulett streets.
On her way there, she spied one of the dogs prancing her way but was able to avoid the animal when it stopped in the street for a passing car.
But coming back home would be a different story.
She told her pastor she went against her religious premonition to take a different route and estimated she was about two car lengths away on the sidewalk when the first, and largest, pit bull began charging towards her.
"He saw me and just took off and ran towards me," she recalled.
She tried to dash for the front door of 348 Hulett St. to get help but by then the dog and a second, medium-sized one, had already knocked her to the ground when the third, and smallest, pit bull joined them.
Lucas, 58, began yelling while desperately trying to fend off the animals with kicks and punches.
That lady has spunk, and heck yes shoot : ) Glad she is home and getting the support she needs.
Question for all here, what do you think you would do if you saw three pits mauling someone infront of your home? I know it's hard to really know unless it's happening, I was thinking I'd grab a weapon (large knife, baseball bat etc) and at least try to help.
Thanks RP for putting that County pit bull action up. It's reassuring that Karen Johnson cares more about bred discrimination than anything else. Pit bulls are not a problem in the Stockade?
They are all shocked that this happened! What's shocking is that it it doesn't happen more often. This goes hand in hand with City gang activity another issue totally ignored by City Hall "leaders". The County will get involved because total incompetents are running The Pit Bull City.
nice one, Benny "the Forger." Once again you hit the salami on the head with your concise, cool, appraisal of the situation. thank god u are here keeping everyone honest [everyone but yourself, eh "Forger"?]
Re Aug. 25 article, “Pit bulls attack woman on walk”: After hearing the news of yet another pit bull attack, I am compelled to write and ask: How many people are going to be mauled by these vicious animals before something is done to the owners, and why are these dogs not put down when they attack in this way? You might as well have a tiger or lion in your back yard. Make the owners accountable, maybe mandate that they pay insurance to keep these animals and that if they attack, they are automatically euthanized. Let’s not protect the public now; let’s protect these vicious dogs and their owners, who probably have them for use in drug activity. I wish the offi cers had killed the dogs. This woman lost both of her ears. Do we not care about making our streets safe?
Great solutions from the DEM working together crew. Have the USPS police and report pit bulls? No money for dog catchers nor City schools. $3 million needed for the municipal golf course {must pay golf pro} and $500,000 to repay the DEM debt on the City garage. Gary McCarthy is looking for tax savings? He no good with money. lol,
ahhhh yup....paying postal workers to be animal control in cities with undereducated folks.....yay....next they will get side arms and become a branch of the local police dept...... well,,,they cant deliver e-mail.....

Love it that the City is working with the USPS to make sure their mail carriers have a safe envirnment to deliver the mail?! How about this City chumps, why don't you make the streets safer for the TAXPAYERS BENEFIT TOO!!
There will be a far worse mauling with these pit bulls as the City cannot effectively deal with the issue. This problem is getting worse and unlike most of the issues the Council ignores, this one will definitely come back to haunt them.
