Euthanize the dogs.  Then make the owners pay for the plastic surgery and other costs for pain and suffering.

Last Friday I saw a pitbull alone walking down Crane Street.  Everyone got off the street.  Where were the cops?

Agree! But I say.....rehabilitate the dogs and shoot the owner. These dogs are being born and breed and trained to be agressive  fighters by irresponsible owners. It is a shame. Two of my in-laws had pit bulls years ago and they were excellent, non aggressive dogs because their owners were responsible pet owners.

Foot traffic on Crane Street? This must be the "progress" the DEM fossils are campaigning on.

This is not a police issue, it's a animal control issue. The City DEMS refuse to adequately staff or spend for Animal Control. The entire City Council, including Gary McCarthy, have been repeatedly warned about the growing pit bull problem. Mr Strock has written many articles about this problem. As usual, they look the other way. Nobody does nuthing. Stop blaming the SPD for the failures in City Hall. The City cannot solve this issue. This must be consolidated Countywide with Animal Control run by the Sheriff. The status quo, pretending there is no problem and looking the other way cannot continue.

Bravo! But this is Schenectady the arm pit of Upstate. The DEM "officials" don't think they will cite the owner. F***ing unbelievable. Not even a citation? Think revenue generation morons.

In one week a body is found, a building collapses and a vicious daytime pit bull attack. Meanwhile, the City DEM "leaders" slam a charter ballot amendment through on the consent agenda. Totally ignoring every speaker at the City Council meeting. Keep the progress going? Think they mean implosion.

Pit bulls are more of a fashion statement to these scumbags then they are pets. More than once I seen owners of these dogs beat the hell out of them to turn them aggressive and it makes me sick.

SCHENECTADY — A 58-year-old woman attacked and mauled by three pit bulls early Monday is expected to survive, police said today.

The woman, whose identity wasn’t released, was attacked on the sidewalk by the dogs at about 3:30 a.m. Monday on Hulett Street.

Officers responded, using a Taser to subdue the dog that appeared to be the most aggressive, getting it off the woman. The two other dogs then retreated, police said.

The woman suffered multiple injuries to her face, ears and arms. She was treated at the scene by city fire department EMS personnel and taken to Albany Medical Center for treatment.

The owner of the dogs was identified as 21-year-old Jasmine L. Tirado, of 347 Hulett St. She came out of her house to get the dogs, police said.

She soon surrendered the dogs to the city’s animal control officer. Two of the dogs have since been euthanized, the third is expected to be after an observation period, police said.

Samples from the dogs are expected to be sent for rabies testing.

Tirado was issued an appearance ticket, accused of having one unlicensed dog, along with three appearance tickets for harboring dangerous dogs.

She is to appear in city court on those charges Sept. 1

What are the restrictions in the city for the amount of animals you can have before you are declared a 'kennel'? Some municipalities have it set at 2. any more than that and you have to register as a legal kennel.

Once again you are attacking a straw man. Dog attacks happen in even the poshest enclave of the richest of the rich. Saratoga is not even immune from them.
