A successful Downtown would alleviate the burden on the taxpayers, not make it greater.

A successful Metroplex would bring new business to the City, not move businesses from one part of town to a tax-exempt Downtown bubble.

A successful City would have its leaders living where they receive their paycheck - not Gillen in Burnt Hill and Morris renting out his home in the City to live elsewhere.

Metroplex has failed. Property and school taxes have tripled in the past decade meanwhile the quality of life has deteriorated and the school system has failed according to the State.

The current leadership better get some new shocks, because November is going to be a bumpy ride.

Do you get your nutrition direct from the tit or is it obtained from the pump.

So I guess you believe that people who know the truth about where the tax money goes should keep it a secret from the financially struggikng people who are in danger of losing their homes because they have to pay the taxes of the mllionaires?

Somebody who lived in Brazil thinks downtown is great? Brazil is a hellhole.
Am I a loser? How would this guy know that? Not believing the propaganda in the Gazette doesn't make me a loser. Anyway, I live in Schenectady. I know better than people who are judging from afar, or who are just passing through. My young friend couldn't find one of those jobs created in Schenectady. He's a real person. My guests who have travelled EXTENSIVELY, were unimpressed by downtown. They aren't losers either, having the means to travel the world, are they?
What constitutes a loser? I think a loser is someone who would accept whatever some self-interested politician serves up. I can think for myself.

Thank you working together DEM morons for creating a 24/7 Downtown! So what if the City is broke, can't pay the County or schools for the hundreds of abandoned properties? The "renaissance" is good because DVR, The Spotlight and Gazetto said so!

There is no question that Downtown Schenectady - like any northeastern US city - has problems .. but there is also no question that it has improved tremendously over where it was 10 years ago.   I have said all along that there is still much more work to be done.   I have also said that I refuse to be - like the nattering nayboobs - a part of the problem .. but rather to be part of the solution.    And I will not mince any words -- I think that the nayboobs with their vile personal attacks and constant words that TEAR DOWN our community are just as bad as the drug dealers, criminals, gang members and absentee landlords  ... their constantly knocking our city and our county does tremendous harm to our community.

So - once again - I say if you don't like living in Schenectady (city or county) and have nothing better to offer than verbal abuse and negativity .............. pack up your bags and move someplace else.   We don't want your negativity around.

Yeah, political dissenters ...
are just as bad as the drug dealers, criminals, gang members...

That is why liberals like Ron Severe are insane and dangerous, and un-American. They prove it over and over with words and actions.

Insanity is repeating the same thing over and over again .. and expecting a different result  -- like buying products from GB's business over and over again  ... and expecting them to NOT taste like cat poop.

Hey Ronald McDonald, you clown. See my avatar of a democrap poster boy? That is the tiger avatar YOU should have, because you are a manboy clown. Your constant threats of using the police to detain and arrest republicans and conservative citizens who disagree with your regime might put your head on the headrest of the guillotine someday. Maybe we will see you at the trial, and hopefully you will have a mental health reason for exclaiming that political difference of opinion equals criminality and deserves punishment. You make clear and expressed, your desires to see those with different views arrested and imprisoned as criminals. THAT in itself is criminal and treasonous and for your sake lets hope you will never be put on trial. Because if you are, you will surely face the gallows when an angry American populace decides they had enough of being threatened by your close relationship with the politicized policing agencies that you are so cozy with politically.

Americans don't like dictators who use the police as a political tool to threaten people who disagree. You keep doing that Ronnie McDonald. You keep doing that

How dare County taxpayers demand any accountability? Where are your DEM solutions? Oh right-flush more millions on mooch Mercury Morris and the "arts". $100 MILLION isn't enough-the Metrograft debt limit should be increased! He can buy another tax free power plant, empty catering hall or coffeehouse that doesn't take in $50 a day.

Instead of listening to the people or God forbid Downtown property owners the DEM working together morons keep getting egg on their faces. Making businesses pay to hear the DSIC annual "report". Running a Proctor's corn popper for City Council. Building apartments at ALCO instead of creating new industrial sites. Filling the vast emptiness of Center City with SCCC students. Having political fundraisers at tax exempt Key Hall. The song remains the same-money for nothing and no taxes for the politically connected.

Many of my best friends are Republicans (party) and conservatives (ideology)  -- I am a conservative ideologically.  That drives some of my friends who are Democrats crazy --- but I do believe that Democratic Party has always and SHOULD ALWAYS be a "big tent party" and that being fiscally conservative, pro-defense and taking a number of other conservative positions is NOT inconsistent with being a good Democrat.   One does NOT have to be a liberal to be a Democrat and not all Democrats are liberals.    (the fact that GB and the other nayboobs can not comprehend that just shows that they never matured beyond the 4th grade level - which is basically the level they act at )

There is nothing wrong with a good debate ---  the problem with the nayboobs is that they don't actually engage in a constructive debate ......   the Nayboobs are ill-informed, always negative about their community and have a personal mission to destroy whomever disagrees with them or doesn't do their bidding.

On the other hand, I enjoy studying all sides of an issue and having a good constructive debate .. have been many friends with a wide-range of political, religious and other ideas ------------- I can completely disagree with them on one or more issues and still enjoy their company and their friendship.
More importantly,   my friends and I are willing to actually roll up our sleeves and work together to BUILD UP and IMPROVE our community.      We would rather be a part of the solution .. not a part of the problem.

I'm not a drug dealer, criminal, gang member or absentee landlord........NOR A TERROIST!!! It's the evil part of society that the liberal socialist progressive democrats have 'created'. The ones that they welcome under their 'tent'.

Well, I would like to raise the bar for them, myself, my family and society in general. And how do you begin to do that? You lower their lucrative welfare hand out. Ya see.....most of the folks on the government teet are the ones that are stealing, selling drugs, shooting and prostituting. Are prisons are filled with this culture. So the liberal socialist progressive ideology is clearly not working.

It appears that dvr has it a$$ backwards.....it is the sub culture that you should be asking to leave the community.....not the folks who want to clean it up!!

It's not that you (we I'm assuming are the dems controlling the city and county)  don't want the negativity around, it's that you and other's are realizing the truth is coming out. And that there's going to be some new faces come November : )

There is no question that Downtown Schenectady - like any northeastern US city - has problems .. but there is also no question that it has improved tremendously over where it was 10 years ago.  .

It may have "improved," but DV it has improved TOTALLY at the expense of the taxpayers.   It is NOT a downtown where PRIVATE businesses came in with their OWN money and then began paying taxes and created lots of good paying jobs!   This is the part you are totally blind to.

Downtown's "improvement" has become an unaffordable burden on the taxpayers.  Downtown's "improvement" has done NOTHING WHATSOEVER to increase the tax base in the city, it has NOT resulted in people wanting to move to the city.    The focus has been EXCLUSIVELY on downtown while totally ignoring the ignoring the neighborhoods totally ignoring the people, and totally ignoring the absolutely esssential vital services in the city.  EVerything has been downtown downtown downtown over and over, and yet except for Rudnicks where you can buy some clothes, there is no place to buy anything that people need and what people typically buy.   Heck today, there is no place to even put a true department store.

Those dem buddies of yours keep up their propaganda of 3,000 new jobs.  A new job is NOT defined as moving LONG EXISTING jobs from Holland Ave in Albany to State St & Broadway in Schdy.  A new job is NOT moving EXISTING jobs from Crane street to Broadway.   And as far as the jobs in the gin mills and theaters, well, tell, can those dishwashers, ushers and maids buy a house in the city AND pay the taxes?

And the stuff "left to do" downtown, just will be done by hiking taxes on the homeowners even more.  My gosh, DV, are you so very blind that you can't see that homeowners are unable to sell their houses now due to the the city having about the highest taxe in the whole country?   With more to be downtown, gosh, DV, do you want to see all the homeowers lose their homes to tax seizure??????    Becuase, DV, would you care to engage in this conversation and state HOW the homeowners will be able to afford their taxes as the taxes are raised more.

Many of my best friends are Republicans (party) and conservatives (ideology)  ......   the Nayboobs are ill-informed, .

How are we ill informed?

We state that homeowners are paying the taxes of the millioniares downtown.   YOU say we are "ill infomed"    How?

Show us how we are ill informed about taxes going up?   What is your proof to indicate we are ill iknformed about taxes incresing?
What is your proof that we are ill informed about homeowners paying the taxes on all the downtown properties
What is your proof that we are ill informed about the crime rate
What is your proof that we are ill informed about the massive high number of houses up for sale
What is your proof that we are ill informed about no one wanting to buy a house in the city?
What is your proof that we are ill informed about the property values plummeting far more than any other community?
Etc.

Quite the opposite, DV, we are NOT ill informed   We have provided the facts, the truths and have provided links to official records to support our statements.
