Stick this in the City renaissance file. Trustco has announced that it is closing its Sheridan Plaza branch and fleeing to Niskayuna. They join Price Chopper and the Dry Cleaners who already abandoned ship. This leaves the imploding City with another nearly empty neighborhood shopping center. Who needs actual property taxpaying businesses? The DEMS can make it up with another governmental gin mill! If we had a real County Planner maybe working together would be in order? Nahh-Death Ray's too busy giving banks to Proctor's and not getting any national retailers Downtown. Trustco will be moving to Balltown Rd across from the Niskayuna Co-Op. This is another huge inconvenience to the many seniors in the apartments on Gerling St who already lost their supermarket. It leaves the Northside of the City with only one bank B of A on Nott Street. |

This is too bad. That once vibrant area is deteriorating. Those apartment complexes will now be less appealing to seniors who don't want to drive. Wonder what they will get in there instead? Yes, how about "planning" to keep nice areas nice? Not as glamorous, I guess. |

This reminds us of the County DEM debacle with Trustco HQ on Erie Blvd. The working together DEM morons had to rush in there and buy at the highest price for County "offices". Couldn't wait for the price to drop. 6 years later it still sits totally empty. Nothing has happened despite repeated lies by Death Ray and Judy DAG. There's no planning going on in this County-everything is seat of the pants to help DEM political cronies. |

Nothing has been done at Sheridan Plaza for a decade (which was somewhat funny as former Mayor Stratton lived a block away).
The 'leaders' have no idea how to keep decent neighborhoods together or how to clean up the deteriorating ones. There is no urban planner and Gillen has no idea the City reaches beyond the Proctors lobby. The circle of friends who keep getting free buildings Downtown will continue to take taxpayer money until the Plex runs dry.... |

I don't believe there is any interest to keep the neighborhoods together and vibrant. Say what you want about Albany but it has a better handle on its nieghborhoods and their neighborhood associations are committed to their neighborhood. |

Does it concern anyone that Trustco has to put TRUST in their name.
Is there a message in the name beyond TRUST? |

Decade? Since it was first put up. In any other City somebody would have done something when PC fled. Not the all DEM City working together morons. It's all about feathering their own nests-taxpayers can go to he!!. Then the DEM cry about declining revenues. When have an anti-business government don't be surprised when you have no businesses. We don't need no Walgreen's on State Street at Brandywine! We prefer the empty gravel parking lot. |

Yeah, the Hometown Bank, that is moving out of the hometown, and already took the hometown name out of their own name. Showing how much they really care for their community, while at the same time showing that it's possibly not in the best interest of anyone's business for them to be known as from this city / county? I used to have an account with them back when they were Schenectady Trust. When they took Schenectady out of their name, they lost my Trust. |

First..........they dropped the name 'hometown' about the same time as the gazette dropping 'schenectady'. Second.....Trustco has been promoting, through ads, their offices in FLORIDA!! third.......The area has been declining. Slower than other areas, but declining none the less. Folks can't even give those beautiful homes away. We won't even mention the TAXES!! |

Moving to Florida just before the housing bubble bust was tough. As their CEO has repeatedly said "you can't do business in Schenectady". Monkey business-yes? Somebody wake up Judy DAG and ask her about the Erie Blvd mess. Another great example of DEMS "working together". Paying top taxpayer dollar for the old HQ {while Trustco fled to Glenville} then letting it rot because of DEM fiscal incompetence. |
