I would rather go there and see it for myself and get up close and personal in the debate. I don't trust osm......they have edited too many other programs. |

perhaps OSM could broadcast the debate during a Proctors fund drive and break away from the debate each time that Hull speaks on camera |

Every time McCarthy speaks they can put the garbage schedule up on the screen. Surprised he is chicken to talk about the 3,500 jobs he allegedly created and his golf pro. |

Mayoral hopefuls meet Schenectady's finances, neighborhood blight among topics debated By LAUREN STANFORTH Staff writer Published 11:20 p.m., Wednesday, October 19, 2011
SCHENECTADY -- Alliance Party founder and former Union College President Roger Hull and Acting Mayor Democrat Gary McCarthy answered questions about city finances and neighborhood revitalization in the first, and only, major debate between the candidates at a packed GE Theatre at Proctors on Wednesday night.
McCarthy, City Council president who took on the mayor's top post when Brian U. Stratton exited for a state job in April, praised the course the city has been on since Democrats took over eight years ago and highlighted what he's done since getting the job, including selling the mayor's car and having five-times the number of streets paved this year as compared with 2010.
Meanwhile, Hull criticized McCarthy for everything from the city's spending down of its reserves to how Hull thinks it's an abuse of power for McCarthy to currently hold both the top spot on City Council and the mayor's job.
Hull, a first-time politician, founded the Alliance Party in hopes of attracting many who make up the city's heavy Democratic voter enrollment advantage. He is also endorsed by Republicans..................>>>>................>>>>>............Read more: http://www.timesunion.com/local/article/Mayoral-hopefuls-meet-2227325.php#ixzz1bJhfpHKO

hull went on the attack -- the sign of the underdog in a politcal race.. he read the polls. he knows it is over. this was his last chance.
mcc was relaxed and made jokes, he was cool, calm, collected and headed to city hall. |

Talk about the pot and the kettle. McCarthy is criticizing about how Union did not put the Ramada Inn back on the taxrolls??? Didn't the Council VOTE ON THIS? What a cop out.
McCarthy jokes all the time! Sure, disrespecting people at the Council meetings by making snide comments about them, not quite humor I enjoy.
But then, I'll be watching the debate tonight as OSM couldn't be bothered to show the debate live. Guess they need to do their special 'editing' first....... |

McCarthy had one pre-written joke? The joke's on any taxpayer still supporting him. Like in Hamilton Hill? lol. The crowd went wild for Roger Hull's proposal to end the DEM free car/free phone program. If this was a fight the referee would have stopped it in the first round. When they asked McCarthy about raiding all City reserves. McCarthy was on the deck and stayed there. |

Really? OSM takes over public access, gets grants, ask for more fees from surrounding towns (some acquiesce but the well run towns walked away) and it can't run a live debate???
Maybe we should be looking back to SACC - they could have done this using boyscouts. |

I have to tell you, the gazette fell over themselves to make it look like GM kept up with Roger in this debate. Roger scored a TKO. I saw several people who were there for McCarthy leave their signs behind and go up and tell Roger after the debate that they were either voting for him or were thinking of voting for him and weren't sure because he impressed them so much! He actually moved people over to his side during the debate which is very difficult to do. He had ideas and was on message. I always thought that Gary was pretty good for a democrat, and I still think that- but Hull is great. It is a once in a lifetime chance to get a Hull in there to change some things much more radically. |
| "While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat." |
