CAPITAL REGION — When Liza Ellen Warner was murdered in Princetown in 2004, her mother had no idea there was a state program to assist victims of violence. Martha Lasher-Warner soon learned through police about the state program now known as the Office of Victim Services. She recalled sitting down with a state police victims’ advocate, who explained the process and helped her fill out the proper forms. With everything else Lasher-Warner had to worry about, paying for her daughter’s funeral wasn’t one of them. Victims need these services and if helps the healing process whereby we can bring the victims and the invisible victims (the arrested parties) together to see how they are alike then we have made more progress and that will take those moving forward like the right political leaders . some of who are in office now in the area. Rep. Tonko and others are on the right path with these idea and I can see a time when crime will be lessened because of this.
