Mr. Morris is an outstanding man and his contributions to Schenectady greatness will live as long as Edison's, Steinmetz'z, Stratton's and Mayor Johnson's. He does not deserve this vicious personal attack coming from the wrong political leaders who want to tear down our fine city. I happen to have met him on several occasions and found him delightful. People here seem to want to destroy the progress being made and it is terrible and criminal. GG
progress on the broken backs of the mule-taxpayers.....it's called progress, sure---but at the expense of extortion of the masses.. no one ever said he wasn't a nice man....but entertainment isn't tax foundation....and if you look at the likes of other places, those who seem to be 'kings/queens' dont live where they work....they live in GATED COMMUNITIES...coming out to make everyone 'feel good' and raise money for 'good causes'.....
they used to be called starving artists because they didn't do sh!t to help the economy(ie:not good employees) but somehow the jesters moved above the knights....go figure

u r making the straw man argument regarding morris.. and i think you will find that many, many people see the value in Proctors.... and many, many people are envious they do not have a proctors...
of course, I value the opinions of those people over the opinions expressed here, thank you

and where do they 'envy' from.....because you cant afford a show ticket with a welfare card or food stamp card.....or unemployment

truly, you are blind to the principles of economics. so to explain is a waste of time. But, just so you know, whenever you can bring 500,000 people to an area, there HAS to be some positive economic activity.
also, Proctors provides scholarships and camps to children, as well as free tickets.
it also does other charity works, but you never bothered to learn that did you?
it also is paying back the money it got from metroplex and only receives a bed tax as the only financial support from govt. Many other communities have bed taxes, not just Sch. and the money can only be used to support hospitality businesses.
the bed tax is charged on the price of hotel rooms, so the more rooms that are booked, the more tax is generated. it is not regressive like the sales tax.
. But, just so you know, whenever you can bring 500,000 people to an area, there HAS to be some positive economic activity.
And how does this equate to the the already over burdened taxpayers who are living in less than desirable situations all over the city and now expanding into the towns? How does this equate to the fact that most all businesses downtown were moved, built and developed on the backs of the taxpayers while these businesses pay little or no tax at all? Do you honestly believe that these taxpayers can continue to shoulder the imbalance of the tax burden? I think when you look around the city.......I mean really look around..........it is evident that they can't. You can't find a buyer for a house for sale. And for some........they just 'walk away'. And that is the hard cold facts that seem to never to make the light of day.
As far as proctors paying back the plex..............where do you get your information?

perhaps if u examined the taxc bill, you will find that more than half -- half -- is for school taxes, that is where the real burden is..
businesses downtown b**ch cause they are getting tax breaks.. boo hoo.. maybe they should invest in their businesses rather than let them fall into desrepair, which was the case before revitalization occurred.
the fact that there all MORE business downtown means the existing ones get a benefit.. simple economics once again.
the business downtown with tax breaks are paying taxes, btw, not full value, but still paying taxes... this is a change from before, when none of the new businesses paid taxes.
you want criminality, look at the PILOT for Wade Lupe LLC, which once owned Center City. They paid $25,000 per year for ever on the building while benefitting from improvements and other taxpayer given goodies..
now galesi pays a PILOT with a far greater tax amount... perhaps three times the amount, if i am not mistaken.
as for Proctors repaying Metroplex, it is a fact.. look it up and read it yourself.

Oh, so when OFFICIAL GOVERNMENT RECORDS show (thus PROVING) that a property has a 100% exemption from property and school taxes, then you are saying they ARE paying partial taxes??????
Since WHEN is 100% less than whole?
And PLEASE explain to us, since the OFFICIAL RECORDS show that Bombers has a 150% exemption, yes one-hundred fifty percent, then does that mean they only have a partial exemption? Obviously YOU are a high school dropout and miserably failed math if you think getting a 100% property and school tax exeption means they pay partial taxes, and if you think that 150% means someone pays.....hell, getting 150% tax exemption means the taxpayers are probably covering Bombers' costs for private trash collectin among other things.

i think your lyhing.. i checked the records. he does not have a star exemption for his city property.. call the assessor if u donl;t believe me. once again, lying, lying. lying
You cheked the records?????? Well PROVE IT! Oh of course, you are just another aka name for DVFOL (DV Full Of Lies), DV who NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER proivdes ONE SHRED of proof of what he says, NEVER provides a link to official sources

Yeah, that's why your DV name shows up as using the forum, and then your DV name disappears and the SB name appears, then the sB name disappears and the DV name reappears. Yep
So, DV, why aren't you responding to Morris violating the law and ripping off the taxpayers??????????

For you who don't believe it, Morris' tax exemption on the house he and his dems are violating the law is on page 360 of the OFFICIAL FINAL tax roll for 2011 !!!!
So, SB aka DVFOL, what proof have you got???????????????????????????????

This is cute because school taxes are not on your tax bill. They are on their own bill so obviously you rent if you live in the city.
businesses downtown b**ch cause they are getting tax breaks.. boo hoo.. maybe they should invest in their businesses rather than let them fall into desrepair, which was the case before revitalization occurred.
Businesses downtown have every right to b**ch. They as well as residential property tax payers, are footing the bill for these so-called not-for-profits.
the fact that there all MORE business downtown means the existing ones get a benefit.. simple economics once again.
As told by a simpleton?

You should probably spell it out for the rest of us simpletons.
