The Metroplex gave $10 million dollars to Proctors.
If it was truly a non-profit, why would a County Economic Development simply give away $10 million for something which should existing from donations?
If Proctors is such a magnet, why did the Parker Inn go under? Why did the North East leave?
That $10 million dollars should have been used bringing a nonotech industry or a national retailer Downtown which would employ many people. Proctors has a few over-salaried admin and many, many volunteers.
A national retailer like kohls or target would have generated traffic, loads of sales tax revenue, many jobs and would have sparked revitalization. Proctors does not.
And isn't proctors subsidized with taxpayer $$$$$ yearly?
No matter what...............proctors needs to be audited!!!
And I also think that 'some' are missing the point here. The county is the highest taxed in the state!! Crime increasing. Homes losing value. No jobs. Infrastructure crumbling. Businesses tax exempt! Non profits with ceo's making upwards and over $200K/year.
Morris/Gillin/Proctors.......has not improved the quality of life for the residents that shoulder most of the tax base!!!

proctors is not subsidized yearly.. it only receives a bed tax of 200k...
metropelx gave proctors $10 million to help it expand its stage, so that it could open all year round and attract traveling boardway shows, this, in turn, would bring more people downtown.
the $10 million included the renovation of the former carl co store, which was abandoned, closed and owned by schenectayd county, [thansk farley] and was not paying any taxes at all.

It's really hard to have a Renaissance when crime is so rampant, taxes are so high and people cannot afford to stay in their family homes they've had for decades.
But who cares right? Let's build new condos and screw the homeowners who have supported the dwindling tax base thanks to Metroplex. All these people claiming to be 'looking ahead' have their heads up their ....
yes, it is really hard to do that... so let's cut taxes, reduce services and close the city...
Why would the city close? You must now realize that everybody on the city is on the public dole in one form or another, and without these services funded with A LOT of state money, Schenectady has NOTHING. The worse the schools, the worse the crime, the worse the poverty, the more state and federal money the city and county receive to fund the useless services.
The more blighted the city, the more tax money the city qualifies for to fund the useless bureaucrats at the do nothing services.
northeast left because it was in 440 state street, which was sold.
myers does not know how to run a business, plain and simple,, bad business model.. it happens
So, if the rest of the places downtown are good business models, they will do well without robbing the homeonwers of their hard earned money. If these millioniares fail, it should be their own money they lose, NOT the taxpayers' money.
Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent. Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.
under your proposal, businesses WO"ULD NOT move to downtown,... why would they move there, where the cost of doing business is higher than the burbs, unless they had an incentive,. that is how economic development works...
i disagree 100 percent with u that proctors is for-profit. it received a nonprofit elibilbity tax status, therefore it is a nonprofit. the nonprofit status also applies to SLOC and to the YMCA, etc. the law allows these organizations to exists,. saying they shouldn;t is nonsense.
but thanks for sharing your ideas,
Explain WHY a Forbes MUTLI-BILLIONIARE NEEDS money from the financially struggling taxpayers to open downtown??????? You mean with his billions he cannot afford to foot the bill himself??????? He can't afford to pay the property and school taxes???????
Explain WHY the millioniares and billionaires can't pay their own way. Obviously a very very poor business model if they have to rely on "welfare" from the taxpyaers to exist.

i guess he is a forbes billionare because he is smart. and smart means he takes adv of deals
And tell us, SB, HOW has the billionaire helped the TAXPAYERS???????? Have the taxes on the financially struggling homeonwers gone down in response to the welfare to the billioniare? Have the property values of the homeowners increased?
Tell us WHY the homeonwers have to pay their own taxes AND the taxes for the billioniare????????
Yeah, deals Sure, how about the dems looking for political contributions in return for stealing from the homeonwers to give their money to the rich.

Wrong again idiot. It's in the Proctor's arcade by the coffeehouse. Instead of lying about everything you should have gotten your fat arse down to the City council meeting. They could have used a dupe.
sorry, beny, took a play from your book, how is the food in county lockup? drop your soap while there.. when was the last time u were at a council meeting? lol u don;t even live in the city
