I drove by the ALCO site today -- the site is looking GREAT  now that the derelict eyesores are almost all down.

I can't wait for the condos and other buildings to go up along the riverfront.

Those "eyesores" provided work for thousands. When is your working together DEM team knocking down the hundreds of residential eyesores? Until you get skin in the game and purchase a condo in the City {lol} your cheer leading falls on deaf ears.

DV is like all the hypocrites who don't live in the City. They look out their car window (while they quickly get back to their Rotterdam/Nisky homes after shopping at Wally World) and make a grand determination of the state of the City. They wouldn't venture out of their vehicles, but their 3 second looks at Downtown and ALCO give them the right to judge the welfare of the City based on a drive-by.

ALCO is another connected developer, with their new $10k a month building inspector (city taxpayer money ill spent), tax-free building supplies and other grants paid by homeowners of New York State. Another bad deal for NY, but a Metroplex player will get millions at the expense of the taxpayers.

DV is lucky his car didn't fall apart after hitting all the pot holes and sewer covers all the way down Erie Blvd. HE** will freeze over before DV ever buys a condo there.

Folks who live in schenectady county, but out of the city limits.......are beginning to realize that the city is now overflowing into their towns. The town folks, who want to continue to live in their towns, are becoming very aware and active in city elections as of late. The other town folks are just moving out of the county all together!!

The alco will NOT save the working, over burdened taxpayers in the city as did any other friends and family project.

That guy is old enough to drive? I assumed he was a twelve year old boy. Or did an adult take him for a ride?

His auntie, Baby Jane, took him for a ride in the '82 LTD.

My great-grandfather worked in ALCO  and I am very well aware that thousands of people USED to work there.

My advice to you and the other idiots who responded after you  ----  get a cold splash of reality ... ALCO closedthat plant over 30 years ago ....   the place has been an eyesore and a mess for decades.   The site is being cleaned up and will be used for homes and businesses --- jobs will be created building the new buildings -- jobs will be created when the project is completed.

That is the problem with the Nattering Nayboobs of Negativity -- they live with their heads up their asses  and don't realize that   we are actually living in the 21st century.     They think that ALCO is still employing 10,000 workers downtown and GE is employing 40,000 at the main plant.    The NNNs are too ignorant to realize that those days are long gone ... and now we have to create NEW OPPORTUNITIES.

And don't worry about where the condo I own is located .. My family and I enjoy it.    As for living in the City of Schenectady -- I fully expect to live within the city limits  ...  when the consolidated City-County of Schenectady becomes a reality --  I am optimistic that that will happen with the next 5 to 10 years.

Hey DV, I guess you support more vacant housing, huh?   NO ONE is going to buy a condo in the city, because NO ONE wants to pay the taxes.  How come your virtually equallized sized theater patroon buddy move out of the city, he would have the money to buy a condo on his fat taxpayer salary, but even he got the hell out of the city.

By the way, instead of driving, you look like you need to ride a bike

People make statements that they are going to go to check their properties "after Christmas" and six months later, they've been here every day.

Your comments over time have proven your ignorance on issues such as property taxes, tax levys and assessments, insurance, investments, financies, etc.

And the FACT that you NEVER NEVER NEVER provide one shred of proof of things that you say about the city, proves you are a liar

I don't recall seeing anyone posting here who was against redevelopment of the ALCO site, or living in the past when Schenectady was a manufacturing
giant, or anything like that at all. I think most of the participants in this forum are mainly concerned with two things: how best to arrest the city's downhill slide, and what to do to prevent the terrible wasting of OUR MONEY that has occurred due to negligence, corruption, or just plain incompetence. People have posted some interesting FACTS and shared their viewpoints and opinions. Calling someone names does not make the name-caller right. If you want to argue against someone's assertion, point out where you think they are in error, and why. Calling someone "negative" just means that you don't
have a real argument.
