Obama says he cannot guarantee Social Security checks will go out on August 3

President Obama on Tuesday said he cannot guarantee that retirees will receive their Social Security checks August 3 if Democrats and Republicans in Washington do not reach an agreement on reducing the deficit in the coming weeks.

"I cannot guarantee that those checks go out on August 3rd if we haven't resolved this issue. Because there may simply not be the money in the coffers to do it," Mr. Obama said in an interview with CBS Evening News anchor Scott Pelley, according to excerpts released by CBS News.

YUP!  The Republicans do have a history for shutting down the USA.  Ask The Newt how the last time turned out.  American put the blame where it belonged, on the Republicans and they paid the price for it.

Obama using the sky is falling and scaring the sh*t out of the seniors so he can put America further into debt.

Let us not forget.

From Sen. Obama’s Floor Speech, March 20, 2006:

The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies. … Increasing America’s debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that “the buck stops here.” Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better.

Isn't it sweet. We have money for missles that cost $1 mllion each to land on Libya but we can't find money for SS. Money  folks have already given to the government.  This is stealing out and out.  To bad people don't march on Washington and demand they get their acts in order. Can see the riot police now.  The tear gas, the tazers, billy clubs.

These politicians know how to use strong arm tactics.

Obama and all the nitwits in Washington need to get their priorities straighten out.  They are abusing the disabled and elderly.

You make it seem as if only liberals are anti-war which is not true. Warhawks come from both sides as we see with this administration as well, sadly many on the left won't criticize him for his expansion of these wars.

Oh brother.............here we go again!!! SCARE THE CRAP OUT OF GRANNY AND GRANDPA!!!

Granny and Grandpa are already experiencing the new obamacare!! Their co-pays are HUGE!!! If they have private insurance with 'script coverage'....the script coverage is mandated to be dropped and scripts are only to be purchased through medicare/government which is MORE!!! Some of their so called 'private insurance coverage' is now under the medicare/government/obamacare umbrella!! Most seniors are now paying approx $150/month directly to the government, deducted from their ss check!!

And there ain't no way in hell the government will stop ss checks. After all....America is the consumers of the world. We stop buying and the china and the rest of the world falls!!!

I let Obama have the inherited Iraq and Afghanistan war for 2 years before I called the war his.  He was left an impossible situation in both wars... the Bush Legacy.

I'm satisfied that he will pull out of Iraq on schedule, but if he opts to leave some troops as is now being discussed, then it would depend on how many troops and what is their mission.  The ultimate goal is to leave Iraq.

Afghanistan as far as I'm concerned is Obama's war, and he's not doing well with it.  The troops killed in Afghanistan after this past January are IMO entirely Obama's responsibility.  (Something the Rightist never took responsibility for when it was The Bush Oil War)

Libya is a temporary action of limited size and scope.  Unless Obama expands the mission, I would support him in this just as I would have supported Bushy in a similar mission.

Senate Republicans Propose New Powers for Obama
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is "actively pursuing a new plan under which the debt ceiling would grow in three increments over the remainder of this Congress unless lawmakers approve a veto-proof resolution of disapproval".

Did "Bushy" threaten to cut grandma's Social Security?  NO.  He, like Obama, just continued to wage unfunded wars and pay for all our social programs by continuously raising the debt ceiling.  Unfortunately as a result of Bush and Obama policy, Americans elected fiscal conservatives to the House of Representatives that are no longer willing to continue the policy of increasing deficit spending for an expanding government.

These aren't hippocrates.  They are giving RINO's just as many fits as Democrats.

Bush actually tried to fix SS to make it sustainable but the dems shot it down saying their was nothing wrong with the current system
