Longtime French bistro on Jay Street, Chez Daisy has locked the door and disconnected the phone. They join a growing list of Downtown businesses that have either gone belly up, fled or shut in Miracle City. As predicted here.

In the past month, Olender's, Parker Inn, It's About Time, Bead Shop, Chez Daisy and Media Done have either shut, fled or gone bankrupt. Thank you unified County redevelopment "team"! Thank You DSIC! Maybe taxes should be lowered and the DSIC dissolved? Jay Street across from City Hall is looking more and more like State Street below Erie. Rumors of another major closing are swirling around the neighborhood.

Benny - stop being such a chronic pessimist!

She obviously shut down because her catering business is so good, she can't afford the time necessary to keep the main store staffed, even though I'm sure it was rather profitable....

That's why buyers were lining up to purchase the business? I'm sure Olender's closed because business is so great too. Take off the rose colored glasses. Jay Street is in free fall but this will be labeled a positive development so that more nonprofit/arts groups can get free space.

"This is a win-win for all the stakeholkders on Jay street since we here at Mplex have been working with several upscale outfits who want to move downtown but couldn't because they need that space to combine with another on a lease and the numbers don't crunch for them unless we can get that tenant out of there, so this really is a blessing in disguise for the long term in the continued revival of downtown! We have been encouraging her to leave since the business she built up downtown springboarded her to higher highs with her catering and as far as crepes go Bobby Lamemozzi and Angelo Mazzone have that covered in a more upscale way"

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

Plenty of crepe alright. Death Ray needs a larger foot print like on State below Erie-lol. There's not enough rubble down there. I heard Olender and the bead lady are also going into catering. Maybe Mercury Morris should get into catering from his new coffeehouse?

media well done was a failed business model, for sure.. u needs freaking signs when u have the internet... lol

and i am sure there are plenty of businesses failing on rotterdump -- they just are reporting by the vigilante jackals here.

They moved from Erie Boulevard to State bringing no new jobs. Nothing new for Downtown-another in city shuffle with a huge tax give away. Rotterdam is booming next to the imploded DEM "led" City.

Media is moving they haven't gone belly up like Metrograft supported Parker Inn. After Metrograft flushed $100 MILLION on the arts and drunk district the business climate is horrible and you can't give a property away.

That's the funniest thing I've ever read from somebody defending Metroplex and the failed economic planners.  We have Ray Ray and the Democrats cherry picking businesses to grant taxpayer secured sub prime loans and property tax breaks, and SB considers that a lessen in sound economics.

I really don't need a lecture on eco- I have a degree in it and not from a public school. How about the crepe place on the side street in SARATOGA? That places is packed and had boomed for years. Nobody wants their food? Maybe the fact is you have all three strikes against you when you operate out of Schit City UNLESS you are on the inside track and get hundreds of thou in grants, interest free loans, PILOT deals and other perks that the less-connected smaller guys DON'T GET from the socialist gatekeepers that run the joint. Maybe that is why some of them failed and maybe even a few of them who DID profit from the correct political connections to the boys club that runs the town.

Perhaps there are some businesses that weren't going to make it from the get-go!! But the plex continues to include them in therenaissance. And may I remind folks that when they gave birth to the plex a decade ago....it was made up of local business folks that were mentoring these new businesses. Gave them advise on advertising, pricing etc.....

That service obviously bit the dust!!! Perhaps the plex should entertain that idea once again.

However....there is still the element of 'undesirables' that plague downtown.

As far as Chez Daisy....they were and are too classy and high end for the city of schenectady....perhaps even the entire county.

Smoky....it is YOU that needs a lesson in economics....really!

Both Metrograft and the horrible DSIC need to be immediately defunded. DSIC can't even keep track of it's tree grates. The City dumps over $3 MILLION into DSIC and then can't pay the schools? Dem priorities. Death Ray and the Metrograft morons have lied repeatedly to the people.

When is the next national retailer coming Downtown? Or should I say the first after lie after lie. Both are old age homes for unemployable DEM lobs. It's one embarrassment after another. Complete taxpayer ripoffs that a benefiting a handful of connected millionaires. And stay tuned here. Another hot one is about to drop.

"This is a positive development. Like KEM cleaners closing to make more parking for the County building on Erie". Oops we don't have any money for that! Keep reading your Gazetto and comic book version of Das Kapital for dummies.

More Renaissance news! Mexican Radio will not be coming to 325 State St as previously announced by Death Ray and the Metrograft bozos. The deal fell through. They are looking at other vacant properties and may open in a year. Plenty of those since the renaissance started. The smoke is clearing and the mirror is cracked.
