Yes, a necessary evil of a program. SOme parents are living in severe poverty, other's are mis-usng the money.
And those who do own homes are paying for Proctor's taxes, and the taxes of the rest of the millionaires and billionaires downtown and therefore, find it hard to pay the taxes for the wealthy and pay their own taxes and pay higher food bills......but DV doesn't understand that because he doesn't pay taxes and doesn't have children to raise and support. Since he doesn't have a job, perhaps he should take some of the auntie taxpayer dole he lives on and pay for food for the kids, or perhaps go to the lunch sites and see how people are struggling trying to feed their families simply becuase the dem socialists have stolen money from the homeowners to give to the millionaires.
It would be good if something could be done to force the parents to be responsible, and I don't know if I'm willing to go to the extent of charging them with neglect when they don't feed their kids, yet walk around with cell phones, electronic equipment in their homes, etc.
THat said however, the taxpayers are already sharing more than enough burden.

What does Proctors do for the poor in the city? Does rich Morris have a lunch site at Proctors for the poor? Does it make Lion King seats available for the poverty kids in the city in exchange for not having to pay taxes?

Of course in addition to strangling the elderly in their wheelchairs, I prefer to feed small children bacon grease on toast, just like the radio ads say. I am sure that when Ronald Reagan sat down to go over the school lunch menus to institute ketchup as a veggie, he missed the opportunity to declare mustard a meat. While I agree with you that the working men and women of this country ARE being taxed to death, the reason is that the Rich are not paying their fair share. A typical working person, from GE to Retail to State or County worker is being taxed at a rate from 25% - 35% on his wages. There is no hiding their income... deduct your dependents and pay tax on the rest.
The top 400 taxpayers, according to the IRS, pay about 17% tax on their income.
If you wonder why the middle class is being squeezed to death... Blame those top 400 who are only paying half of their fair tax bill.
