A few years back, maybe the mid-90's- I predicted that the government would be feeding the kids THREE times a day, YEAR ROUND in my life time! We are very close. I expect that within the next decade all child feeding will be handled by the government first the breakfasts, then of course the lunches and then the kids will be kept in school until 4:30 so they can be given the early dinner. Parents today think this is great because it "frees" them up and of course with all the single moms this makes "perfect sense." So it is only a natural progression that as time goes on children are given up from the family to the "village" (government) until the point at which you only get the children on the weekends. However the leftists intelligentsia that went to Harvard (who are SOOOO smart) did not predict that we would run into this fiscal crisis this early so they may have to forestall some of these intelligent solutions until they can "get things under control" some more. So while the Ivy League statists dream new ways to "manage" us they have to implement smaller steps like this. Of course that is, until they run into the end of a rope at the hands of millions of enraged slaves who decide to break their bonds. There may not be enough gallows or graves for all of them since so many young people are being indoctrinated to become government oppressors. But time will tell if the national common sense awakens before it is too late for a repeat of 1776. Our first responders are being trained to eliminate us in the best methods of storm troopery yet I sense there is some rebellion in their ranks as well. You can dress them in black and give them military training, tactics and weapons, but you can't make them think all alike.

SCHENECTADY Free lunch effort set to start Ministry gets volunteer help BY MICHAEL LAMENDOLA Gazette Reporter
The 15th annual free summer lunch program for children and young adults in the city of Schenectady will begin Monday at 12 sites. Sponsored by Schenectady Inner City Ministry, the program offers a hot or cold lunch Monday through Friday through Sept. 2 to any child and adult age 18 and younger. Hours are each site vary. The Rev. Phil Grigsby, SICM executive director, said SICM expects to serve approximately 800-1,000 meals a day at the sites. For many participants, the lunches will be their first food of the day, or maybe even their only food of the day, he said. “We are dealing with poverty in our community. Some kids don’t get food because their families do not have enough money for food, either through bad choices, unemployment or both,” Grigsby said. “We fill the gap here. The more we can feed kids summer lunches, then the less busy our food pantries may be at the end of the month.” The summer lunch program has an open enrollment, meaning participants do not have to prove financial hardship to eat. The reason is because of the city’s overall poverty rate of 72 percent, Grigsby said. “At most of SICM’s lunch sites, 100 percent of the children qualify for free or reduced-price lunches,” a measure of poverty, he said. This year, SICM has added Steinmetz Park, at Lenox Road and Salina Street, as a new site for summer lunches. Lunches will be served there from 12:20-1:35 p.m. “We assess the usage at sites from the previous year. If there are sites underutilized, we take a close look at those sites and decide where the needs are,” he said. “We try to select sites with a large geographic distribution.” SICM is retaining lunch sites near the pavilion at Central Park and Jerry Burrell Park at Schenectady and Hamilton streets. Meals are served 12:05 to 1:20 p.m. at both sites. Other sites include: Carrie Street Park, Carrie Street: 12:40-1:55 p.m. Faith United Methodist, 811 Brandywine Ave.: 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friendship House, 955 State St.: 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Graceway Ministries, 129 Chrisler Ave., the only site to offer breakfast: Breakfast offered 8:30-9:30 a.m.; lunch offered 12-1 p.m. Hillhurst Park, Campbell Avenue: 12:45-2 p.m. Quackenbush Park, Forest Road: 12:15-1:30 p.m. Steinmetz Family Investment Center, Emmons Street: 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Trinity Lutheran Church, 35 Furman St.: 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wallingford Park, Congress and Fifth streets: 12:30-1:45 p.m. Yates Village Community Room, Van Vranken Avenue: 12:30-1:45 p.m. SICM operates lunch programs at the public housing sites and works with the city and other groups to operate lunch programs in the park. Churches operate programs at their facilities. SICM is using four paid site coordinators, interns and volunteers to oversee meal sites, Grigsby said. He said SICM could not afford to run the program were it not for volunteers. Approximately 600 volunteers will assist this year, Grigsby said. They will commit between 90 and 120 minutes per day for lunch. “We could not do the program without volunteers and we could not afford to run the program without them. They are engaged,” he said. “We get calls in January and February from groups who want to assist.” Grigsby said this year’s lunch program has a budget of approximately $100,000. SICM contracts with JR Proprietors for the meals, which includes an entree, fresh fruit, fresh vegetables, beverages and a snack. SICM is reimbursed for each meal served by the state Education Department and the U.S. Department of Agriculture. . ....................>>>>..................>>>>...........................http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r01103&AppName=1
A great indicator of the success of the Metrograft renaissance. 1,000 residents will get a US Ag/State Ed funded lunch. The program must be expanded because of the Obama depression.
Proctor's, who refuses to pay any Fair Share Tax, should open up a meal site and contribute to the cause. Naah, they are too busy talking coffeehouses, banks and stores off the City/County tax rolls. And running employees for City Council. Let them eat cake!

This about sums up the city's 'realistic' economic growth!!

The Omamma depression is killing off everyone. Assaulting free enterprise and killing jobs is increasing widespread poverty and despair. Such is the legacy of hate that is liberalism. At least democraps can rejoice that they have "gotten even" with the job creators that are small business, and stripped them of a means to feed their family in the name of egalitarianism and "fairness." When a small business is destroyed, torched by the left through the behemoth government, many liberal toasts are raised as the democrap party secretly aspires to become the "new Stalin" of the 21st century. Theirs is a legacy of disorder, starvation, murder, hate and control. They have big shoes to fill in Uncle Joe Stalin, but they are filling them nicely- for now.

Grigsby is in big trouble with the Dems for telling the truth.
3/4 of the city's population are in poverty!!!
OMG!!! So while the democon fat cats and the friends and family club are lining their pockets.......people who 'do' have jobs, can no longer to feed their own as well as those in poverty!
And it is now clearly obvious that the present elected officials want to keep it this way. If that were not the case, dictator mccarthy would not be denying commissioner of deeds to the opposing party.
The metroplex and the entire demcon slate that has run this city into poverty, should be ashamed and VOTED OUT!!! And the plex abolished!!! And ALL businesses made to pay 100% of their property taxes....ASAP!!! And if they don't like it and close up shop...then adios amigos!
Let's get down to REALITY here!!! I mean come on......72% POVERTY????

Metrograft has been the biggest transfer of wealth in County history. From struggling families through the most repressive tax-SALES TAX-to connected DEM millionaire developers. Moving businesses from Rotterdam, from Mt Pleasant and taking them off the tax rolls. Watch them attack Rev Grimby like they attack every messenger. Nobody can admit in the Gazetto what a load this has all been. They are vultures picking the scrapes before they flee to Saratoga County or Florida.
I think most of the posters on this website -- the typical country club Republicans -- like MC, GB, MT .... they are the type of people who curse the poor people they see on the streets .. they would grab the free sandwich from the hands of the hungry young child .... they spend their lives demanding more and more luxuries for themselves

This entire thread is quite revealing... we are talking about feeding hungry kids... Right?

Yeah -- I think it is a great program.

No one wants to or is taking a free (which actually isn't free) sandwich from anyone! What the 25% of the working city folks are saying is that they too can not afford to shoulder 75% of the population any longer. Don't you people get it yet? The 25% of the city folks are also shouldering the tax base for the businesses that the metroplex has given a tax exemption to.
Ya can't give a house away in the city because the taxes are out of sight. And the 25% of the working folks are made up of both dems and reps. They are all screaming foul and yet their taxes and fees continue to rise with no end in sight.
The 25% of the cities working population can not afford it....get it??? geezzzzeeeeee!

What about the 25% that's paying for all these programs, do you think that maybe they're having a little problem paying their bills and feeding their children?
The crushing size of our state and local governments along with the failing public school system is the reason why people in the city are poor, and the liberal answer is yet another program to crush the taxpayer and businesses. This will ensure they perpetuate the poverty. But...If you're against any welfare program, you are accused of killing the kids, or racist, or bigot. God forbid you wanted to empower those people dependent on government to become self sufficient and productive. Instead, we will continue to put them through a failing school, giving them a poor education, then introduce them to an economy of low paying, and predominately service sector jobs paying minimum wage. Then...Repeat step 1 - and the cycle continues.

Who has luxury? How about your buddy, the CEO of the socialist theater, Proctors....look at the lap of luxury he is living in. He REFUSES to pay any taxes, he does NOT provide for the poor in the cvity, he doesn't help suport these lunch programs, and he just takes more and more from the taxpayers and refuses to help fund the NECESSARY services in the city.
Taxes fund the police, Morris REFUSES to pay for the police, but if there was a fight, a shooting, or even loitering in the arcade, you can bet he'd be calling the police for immediate service Taxes fund the fire dept, Morris REFUSES to help pay for the fire dept, but DV, if there was a fire in Proctor, you can bet he'd be demanding service Taxes fund the snow plowing. Morris REFUSES to help pay for snow plowing, but DV, if State St was not plowed, he'd be calling them up right away demanding the strets around Procttors get plowed.
Just a FEW examples
Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent. Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.
