The homeowners are paying almost the highest property taxes in the whole country.   The homeowners may often be having the choice of feeding their children or paying their taxes.  

Now tell us DV, tell us which is the best choice?  

1.   Homeowners feed their chldren and don't pay their taxes.   The children are fed, but the homeowner loses their home to tax seizure.

2.   Homeonwers pay their taxes ane keep their home, but their children go without meals.

3.   Since the homeonwers pay their own taxes PLUS the taxes of the downtown businesses of which most are worthy millionsx and billsons, and since the businesses downtown pay no taxes, then the downtown businesses should entirely fund the summer lunches for the children.  

Which choice is best DV?:????

The homeowners are struggling financially.  The dem socialists in the city, county, and plex have decided that the financially struggling homeowners MUST PAY the property & schol taxes of all the rich businesses downtown.   And that is in addition to the homeonwers paying the taxes on their own homes.

So DV, when the homeonwers can't pay the tax bills, what happens??????    What happens DV??????    HUH???????    HUH???????      Since you are not a homeonwer and not a taxpayer, you have absolutely no clue what happens.  

DV, when a homeowner cannot pay their taxes, they lose their house to tax seizure.  So, the old people will be out on the street beccause YOUR DEM BUDDY SOCIALISTS have taxed them out of their homes and that ruins their credit making it extremely diffiicult to even rent.   Of course, what would you know.   No job, no homeownership, not even an adult renting a house or aparrment.  

We are the ones to speak for the homeonwers and do not want to see them out on the street.   You, DV, are the one who cheers for increasing taxes on the homeonwers in order to give the taxpyaers money to millioniares downtown.

It's pathetic. Here's what will happen DVR will run away like his buddy Cousin Vinny did to Saratoga County before the end of his term. In the immortal words of Brian Quail, "they understand the importance of high taxes." Finally this November voters will have a choice. To continue the failed DEM highest taxes in the Nation or to throw the bums out. Only 2 incumbents have the nerve to run again in the City. The lunch program is important because of the total failure of these "leaders" to create ANY economic opportunity. They are totally out of ideas and have taxed everyone beyond the limit.

Conservatives love individual children but find supporting the class of children as not part of God's plan.

I don't think anyone wants to see the little children starve to death or seniors thrown under a bus.  

The point is that the working folks can not sustain it any longer. Between fees, property taxes, income taxes, school taxes, state taxes, federal taxes, sales taxes, mandated taxes, gas prices, medical costs, rising food prices, mortagages/rents, energy costs etc.....the working folks can barely support their own!! The average working person is taxed, in total, approx. 60% when it's all said and done!!

Businesses whine and they get tax breaks. The working folks are screaming and no one is listening. The government just keeps taking and taking and taking from them. The businesses that pay little or no taxes are not even putting a dent in this failing economy. They are just getting rich off the backs of the working class!! And the non-profits can't keep up either.

Patients are wearing thin and the well is drying up! So please don't try to make the working class feel guilty because they don't have anymore money to hand out without taking the little food they have off of their table............k?

The irony of the entitlement system - and again a lot of the entitlements have really fantastic intentions...

Is that when the economy crashes again - in an even bigger way, it will be those people receiving entitlements now that will be the most hurt.

Those people with some wealth, and at least a little foresight, are preparing for future doom.

I'm not entirely sure that you know what the word "entitlement" means.
If you put your money in the bank. you are "entitled" to get it back.
If "they" take money out of your pay check for 40 years, for social security, then dernt right, you deserve to get it back, because it was touted as a tamper-proof insurance policy.

I think you're confusing it with those who THINK they're entitled, in which case, we are in complete agreement.

I think we're in agreement.  The only problem with SS is that I think it is currently paying out more to individuals than those individuals put in.

I remember a story somewhere that the first recipient of SS was paid in $25, and received nearly $23k in benefits.  I realize that's an extreme (nearly 1000 to 1 payout ratio), but it is still a major problem today.

Even though I'm a conservative - I would have no problems with raising the SS tax.

Just give the government your entire paycheck each week and they will then allow you to have the things you need to live after you apply for them.

Yes, since we have the best and the brightest working in government, it would only make sense to hand over all of life's necessities(Food,Clothing/Shelter) to the government and allow them to distribute them to each according to their need, from each according to their ability.  Then when America runs out of taxpayer money, borrow money from the Chinese to fund these social welfare programs and have the taxpayer pay the Chinese back with interest.  It only makes perfect sense.

It's working so well in Venezuela, when the government ran out of money there was not enough food and electricity to run the country.

Again, I did not see anyone suggesting that children should not have food at this site. I think that when we pay taxes for social programs, and then pay more taxes for a renaissance whatever that is, and we see a select few benefit while we still have children in need of a handout, and individuals having to set up hot dog carts to make a living, that should tell us that whatever our government is doing with our taxes right now is not working.
Don't we have a political hack making $80,000 per year off the taxpayer allegedly to do something for youth at DSS? Yet we have all these other organizations stepping in to feed kids in Schenectady? That suggests to me that the way some of these programs are working is not up to par. Is the hot dog vending job one of the good jobs created by Metroplex? Unfortunately the taxpayers can't afford to buy too many lunches out because they are paying again and again and again for the same services (feeding needy children, for instance) only to see their hard earned money WASTED.
By the way, I'll bet most of the posters at this site contribute to charities as well as funding the government programs. That might be an interesting topic for another thread.
