MIAMI — Barack Obama will pay Puerto Rico its first official U.S. presidential visit in 50 years on Tuesday, delivering remarks aimed at an important slice of Hispanic voters back home who could aid his chances in 2012. Other political news of note
Puerto Ricans are an important voting bloc in Florida, where they could help Obama balance out the sway of Republican-leaning Cubans in this battleground state, which he won in 2008 and needs next year to help seal a second White House term. "There is a lot of excitement down here," said Puerto Rican Governor Luis Fortuna, adding that he hoped Obama would acknowledge the contribution Puerto Ricans have made to the U.S. armed forces as well as talk about the imperative of job creation.....................>>>>..................>>>>............http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/43391095/ns/politics-white_house/

Remember the Republicans "want Obama to fail" even if it means bringing down the country. The last Gallup poll of the Republican Congress was July 11th... when they had an 18% approval. No doubt it's dropped since then.

Hey, I read that Ronald Reagan presided over 18 debt ceiling increases!! WOW! I'm not great at math but, if Reagan was the president for 8 years and he raised the debt limit 18 times, doesn't that average out to raising it once every 6 months? That means during every election cycle during his 8 years as president, the debt ceiling was a political issue for every house, senate, and presidential election. If Obama is going to invoke Reagan's name, why isn't he willing to agree to the 6 month increase of the debt ceiling offered by the republicans, so we can get through the rest of the year, then re-visit the debt ceiling 6 months from now? After all, that is what Reagan did.

I'm glad to hear that Cicero is happy with Reagan's 200% increase in the debt ceiling... and the Reagan (The Republican God) tax increases almost every year of his presidency.

Didn't Obama vote against the GWB debt ceiling increase? As a matter of fact, I think he said it was irresponsible to raise the debt ceiling. Come to think of it, I think ALL the Democrats voted against it.
Oh, and those pesky Tea Partier's, don't they know they are supposed to disregard their constituents once they go to Washington? How dare they take a principled position on spending based on the will of their constituents. I guess when your constituents don't want any Washington bacon, there's nothing left to do but vote no to the increase without the balanced budget amendment.

Well, if democrats want to be like Reagan, be like Reagan. Raise the debt ceiling 200% incrementally every 6 month. Since Obama is such and admirer of Reagan, he should have no problem with that.

Everyone wants a recover but we may disagree on what way to go about it, Obama's plans that went into action has failed so how is it our fault? Bailouts, stimulus packages, etc did nothing to improve the economy it only kept it afloat by pumping in trillions of dollars. Knowing how that worked out why would we give him even more job killing tax revenue to do the same thing. If he let the economy correct itself from the beginning and followed through with his campaign promises he would have been unbeatable, his campaign lies and trying to micromanage the economy is going to do him in and that is of his own doing not the GOPs.
