This is just a preview of what the acting Mayor would be like if elected to office.

You see, he can personally screen to make sure (due dilligence) that the people will be carrying the "correct" petitions. The democraps are making up some story about too many " commissioner or deeds" being out on the street. I think they meant "murderers." It is like having a horse patrol. Democraps can't see the forest through the trees.

Typical horse droppings from the City DEMS. A pathetic attempt to stop the Alliance Party from getting on the ballot. It won't work and is only increasing the opposition. Instead of cutting the budget or enacting anti-gang laws we get the usual political dirty tricks from the frightened City DEMS. Boo-hoo-an well financed opponent for once!

That's the ticket! When you disrespect the homeowners (by taxing them into foreclosure or by insulting them during Council meetings), you're going to get backlash.

Too bad that McCathy's MO includes an abuse of power. It's only June, pace yourself!

You can't just have anybody and everybody running around Schenectady County participating in democracy...These people need to be screened by the leader of the majority party to assure the people of Schenectady County get the democratic results they desire.  And the only way to do that is to only permit those people the appointed mayor approves of.  The mayor has the best interest of the people in mind.  The two party system is ALWAYS looking to preserve democracy and the will of the people.

I think that 'everyone' should go to the mayor's office, all at the same time, with the media, requesting a commissioner of deeds!

And then when refused.......... EVERYONE trot over to van norden's office and ask for a copy of the 'law' that allows mccarthy to do this.

REALLY!!

Unrelated in a way, last night on the council meeting a speaker said the ONLY way he (or maybe a she) could get a copy of a council meeting DVD was to FOIL the city!!!!!!!!!!

So much for public access.    It's Dictator McCarthy

speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

And then the DEMS won't bother answering it? Pat Z slammed the horrid OSM City Council coverage complete with pop-up garbage schedules. The DEMS need to vet this process to insure that only DEMS participate. Democracy? We demand to run unopposed-as usual!

What a night! One speaker after another slamming Metrograft, slamming the horrid DSIC, slamming City Councils refusal to follow Federal law, telling the truth about the small business collapse Downtown. The DEM death grip on City Hall/Town Hall is coming to an end. O Happy Days!

"I don't believe I have to appoint people who are out working against me," McCarthy said Tuesday. He also likened the denials to his authority to reject applicants for jobs at City Hall. "There are always political considerations when appointments are made by the mayor, and this is one. Everyone who comes in and asks for a job I don't have to appoint."

City Corporation Counsel L. John Van Norden said he believes that commissioner of deeds approvals can be given at the discretion of a mayor. But Van Norden also wondered if McCarthy has that power because the city charter says the mayor grants such deeds, not the acting mayor.

Hurd said she was initially told in late May she couldn't get a commissioner of deeds card because the city was restricting the number issued. Van Norden said that according to the city's charter, up to 800 people can be commissioner of deeds, and fewer than 100 have been designated.

McCarthy did eventually approve Hurd. But since then, Hull's son and other Alliance Party faithful have had their applications denied.

"They're the high-profile ones," McCarthy said. "I wanted to make a statement."

The citys lawyer dosent' even know the frig*in laws lol.

Because many Alliance Party supporters are enrolled Democrats or members of no political party, they need the commissioner of deeds appointment to gather signatures for the Republican Party, which endorsed Hull and three of City Council candidates on the Alliance Party ticket.

Acting mayor pulling rank
Gary McCarthy won't allow Alliance Party supporters to carry nominating petitions

By LAUREN STANFORTH Staff writer

Gary McCarthy, Schenectady City Council president, addresses those gathered at a campaign event in Schenectady City Hall where McCarthy made it official that he is running for mayor. McCarthy has been performing the duties of mayor since Brian Stratton left. (Paul Buckowski / Times Union)

SCHENECTADY -- Democrat Gary McCarthy is using his power as acting mayor to keep supporters of his opponent in the race for mayor, Alliance Party candidate Roger Hull, from carrying nominating petitions.

The tactic revolves around what is known as commissioner of deeds, a designation that lets individuals gather and verify signatures from members of a party in which he or she is not enrolled.

In the past, all people had to do to be a commissioner of deeds in Schenectady was to tell a secretary in the mayor's office that they either lived or worked in the city and they would have a document stamped and sent to the City Clerk's Office for approval.

But ever since the resignation of Democratic Mayor Brian U. Stratton, and McCarthy's rise from just City Council president to acting mayor as well, a commissioner of deeds needs to get McCarthy's approval.

Alliance Party organizers say that while many in their circle have gotten commissioner approval, such as Hull and City Council candidates Jacquie Hurd and Vincent Riggi, six others have not -- including Hull's 20-year-old son, Mac, who lives with Hull. Campaign manager Brian Young, who owns property and now works in the city, was also denied.

When asked his reason for the denials, McCarthy first said he changed the approval procedure because no one was actually checking to make sure an applicant lived or worked in Schenectady, which is the only state requirement for becoming a commissioner of deeds. But then McCarthy said it's his discretion as acting mayor to grant the approvals and that he believes the Alliance Party is just a front for the Republican Party.

Because many Alliance Party supporters are enrolled Democrats or members of no political party, they need the commissioner of deeds appointment to gather signatures for the Republican Party, which endorsed Hull and three of City Council candidates on the Alliance Party ticket.

Mc Carthy is sounding less and less like a Mayor and more and more like a bitter PTA wanna-be president who knows they don't have a shot at getting elected.

Really, this is the way he wants to defeat Hull, not through election but through sabotage? Tactics for cowards 101.

Too bad the pathetic City DEMS don't vet their Metrograft candidates the same way. The last appointment Karen Ha-Ha doesn't even run a business in the City! She worked in Saratoga now she works in Albany. McCarthy can't stop stepping in it and unlike SOS no one in the press is running cover for him. Al whupped him-so will Roger.

So now Mccarthy is using his position for personal political leverage!! So much for a democracy! Just yet another nail in mccarthy's coffin!!! Savage and AS failed miserably and mccarthy will follow suit!! Even Stratton and DiCerbo jumped ship!!

However.....the city liberal socialists can play all the games they want....but they have met their match with Hull!! the party is over!

Oh no MC1, McCarthy has taken over public access as well! With his never-ending (and probably free) campaign ad combined with this feeble attempt to take away the rights of citizens, this upcoming election takes a page right out of the Communist Maifesto.
