I heard at the donut shop that McCarthy is either making it difficult if not impossible to register as a 'commissioner of deeds'. If that is true, than perhaps everyone should be at tomorrow nights city council meeting.
Anyone know if it's true or the details?

Commissioner of Deeds is registered through the COUNTY Clerks office ... What would McCarthy have to do with it?
they say that you always had to go to the mayors office first. His secretary would take your info, give you some documentation then off to the county bldg to be finalized.
they say that NOW you need to go in and see mccarthy first, tell him what you need it for, and then he will decide if you are granted one or not.
Now this could be just a donut shop rumor, that's why there needs to be first hand verification from our investigative citizens!

Weird, I'm not a resident of the city ... I went directly to Woodward's office for the application. If you're interested in becoming a COD, I'd suggest calling the county clerk and get the scoop straight from the issuing office.
If this is truly the case, I would suggest that whoever cannot obtain such a commission immediate file an article 78 or an order to show cause with the Supreme Court.
The news media is already on it. It won't look good for the dictatorship.

You have to go to the Mayor's Office .. FIRST .... then to the City Clerks' Office .. THEN to the County Clerk's Office.
That is the proper LEGAL procedure for obtaining a Commissioner of Deeds in Schenectady County.

Funny, that wasn't my experience - and I'm not a resident of the City, so I've got NO reason to go into City Hall.
Well, the FACT is that the LEGAL process to obtain a Commissioner of Deeds in this County requires you to go first to the Mayor's Office -- then to the City Clerk -- and then to the County Clerk's Office.
Maybe in your delusion-filled mind -- you imagined something else -- but that has been the procedure for a number of years.

Forgive me if I don't take your partisan word for it ... but I'll talk to John Woodward in the morning and see what he's got to say.
Yes everyone did and still does have to go the the mayor's office FIRST. However, the secretary gave you the document to take to the county building.
NOW.....you have to have an audience with the 'acting' mayor himself and HE will decide if you are eligible for a COD!! Dictator isn't the word for it!!! Mccarthy knows he's in trouble and will obviously do anything to skirt the system. WOW...this is really a vote getter!! NOT!!
I heard the media was on it too!

I had no problem getting my Commissioner of Deeds .. and I didn't mind waiting for the Mr. McCarthy to sign it. Personally, I rather prefer the Mayor actually taking the time to do his "due diligence" before he signs off onsomething.
My guess is .. if MT had heard that the Mayor just signed a punch of forms without knowing who he was signingfor -- then MT and the rest of the Nattering Nayboobs of Negativity would be screaming over that.

You see, he can personally screen to make sure (due dilligence) that the people will be carrying the "correct" petitions. The democraps are making up some story about too many " commissioner or deeds" being out on the street. I think they meant "murderers." It is like having a horse patrol. Democraps can't see the forest through the trees.

In New York state the enrolled voters of each political party sign designating petitions, which validate the candidates selected by their party’s nominating committee. As an enrolled Republican and registered voter living in Schenectady, I am eligible to obtain Republican signatures on designating petitions for Republican candidates. However, I also want to go to members of other parties (Democratic, Conservative, etc.) to get their signatures for candidates — such as Roger Hull, who I am supporting for mayor of Schenectady — and that is why I requested a commissioner of deeds certifi cate. I thought that obtaining a commissioner of deeds certificate was primarily an administrative manner, since to be eligible one needs only to be a registered voter and live in or work in the city. But on May 27 I went to the city clerk’s office to obtain a commissioner of deeds application, where a very pleasant and efficient woman stated that I would have to go to the mayor’s offi ce, where an equally pleasant and efficient woman would not give me the application but asked for my name and phone number. I asker her why and was told, “They are restricting the number of commissioner deeds this year, and the mayor will call you.” I asked when he’d call and was told it would happen that afternoon. Walking out of City Hall, I thought that restricting the number of commissioner of deeds certificates was silly, as no other mayor in this city or any other that I am familiar with had ever denied a certificate to an eligible person, and that maybe this was an effort to intimidate anyone requesting a certifi cate. It’s now the middle of June and I have still not heard from the acting mayor. Since designating petitions started June 7, I presume I will not be granted the opportunity to gather signatures other than from Republicans, as [Acting Mayor] Gary McCarthy must be exercising the power of his offi ce to constrict the right of people to participate fully in the political process.
