Wonder if people could get to St Adelbert's church there, Isn't that Yorkston St a one way only on Sundays, and if Bridge St was closed, wow.

But then, who goes to churches in the city anymore anyway.   Much too dangerous, yet that's sad too.  I know we went to St. John's a few weeks back and the church was probably half empty.  That was a church that had a Mass on Saturday and then5 on Sunday morning and one on Sunday evening.   They only have two on Sunday morning and still that huge church is half empty even with all the closings.

Yep, people are leaving the city in droves, and those who moved out of the city already don't even want to enter the city to attend church.

On that note, we attended Immaculate Conception Glenville this morning - standing room only - and parking was not impossible, but we searched for a while to find a spot.

You paint with a pretty broad brush, I don't need a castle doctrine to defend my life. Anyone who kicks in my door and enters with a weapon will find that out the hard way. I'm not afraid your idol Abomination is going to take my weapons and I could care less about gay marriage. As the saying goes, I'd rather be tried by 12 than carried by 6.

So you don't feel that it is unfair that you could go to prison for defending yourself, your family, and what is rightfully yours?

What you REALLY should be railing against, is the fact that New York State, unlike most others, has no "castle doctrine", which gives you the actual right to defend your property.

Bravo! NYS must get in line with the laws of the rest of the nation. Criminals have more rights in this State than law abiding gun owners.

Another tragedy on Hamilton Hill II. Bridge St again? Crime after crime on that DSS dumping grounds. Gang activity is rampant and we can't wait for another Federal sweep before someone in City Hall finally acts. Going to be another long hot summer in Miracle City. During the last hot spell SPD/SFD/MAS was all over Broadway and Crane St.

Yet nobody is questioning why a 15 year old (perfect angel, I'm sure) is hanging out on the streets at 2AM.
On the news, they were blathering on about him being such a great basketball player, that was most certainly going to the NBA.

On the same newscast, they brought up the shooting of promising young basketball player (also most certainly going to the NBA) Xavier McDaniel Jr,(26) in front of Jerry Burrell Park.
They neglect to mention though, that McDaniel got kicked off the team, his high school team and that his playing days were long gone.
Fact of the matter is (and I have this on very reliable authority) is that McDaniel was a drug dealer, that was ripping off too many of the wrong people for drugs, money, and guns.

But hey, he was a "rising star".

I'm just surprised that this latest "victim" wasn't described as a "promising young musician", which in the parlance of anybody that possesses any gray matter other than their underwear, means "YO! I can flash gang signs while trying to rhyme my 50 word vocabulary! Biatch!".

Charles Darwin has no problem with his point being proven..

If some trained circus monkey that hits a rock with a stick, is YOUR child's role model, then you have most certainly failed as a parent.

Tommy,
No kid ever was or ever will be a perfect angel. This was a 15 year old child but you felt the need to put victim in quotes

I posted this before but felt the need to again as you brought up drug dealing.

I knew a young man since he was about 10 years old who became the "leader" of a gang here in Sch'dy. He was allowed to run the streets all night. He was allowed to sell drugs because he was bringing money into the house. He was arrested numerous times.

I knew his "mother". She was on welfare and didn't use the money or foodstamps on her children, they were always at other peoples houses eating or spendiing the night.

I went to court to get temp custody of her daughter, who was my daughters best friend, they were actually like sisters. The mother took off down south.

Now this young man acted like a tough guy, but when you looked into his eyes you saw a scared kid who literally had to raise himself, as he was out on the streets all the time.

I do not condone the lifestyle that he was in, but he was raised that way, raised to bring in money no matter what the consequences.  The gang became his family.

I haven't seen him in many years, I know he was in prison but is out now.

I just pray that just maybe he is ok now, that he realizes that his lifestyle was wrong, and that he has a lifetime of love and happiness.

I pray for all the young children out on the streets right now who know no other life that there is someone in their lives who let them know that they are loved.

What did the parents think ( i use the term loosely and doubt there was more than one) about the kid being out at that hour, at that age? There is the problem., Welfare policies that have promoted social "change" which ends in the disintegration of the family, making the "government" the new family. Here is the result, liberals.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

You will see young kids bragging about how they new the murder victim, as if it gives them prestige. People know who did this. If they loved this young
man so much, I hope they gave this information to the police.
Maybe we could have a program run out of Social Services with a highly paid political appointee who would call people and make suggestions as to what
time they might put their kids to bed, especially when they have to get up for school the next morning. No, wait, the political appointee would administer a grant program that would train people in calling their kids in to go to bed.

Better yet, maybe we need a program that will robo-call kids when its about time to get in the house.  Parents don't need to talk to their kids, the county can buy a robocaller to call what, 4 times, leading up to the child's curfew.  LetMs see, 1/2 hr, 15 minutes, 5 minutes and al the time of curfew sound good?  The parent should also have access to call or go on-line to cancel when (or if) the kid comes home early.  Either that, or employ actual people to make the calls and consider it part of the revitalization.

Nobody said he was an NBA prospect. No 15 year old kid should die in such a meaningless way. Word on the street is that no one is talking, no suspects, no leads. This kid was shot because something was taken at the party house and he refused to be searched.

Life is still cheap on the streets on the City. Anyone that thinks all the gang bangers and knuckle heads were rounded up by the Feds is delusional. One gang was rolled up-one of many. Mt Pleasant/Bellevue/Vale are all in free fall and just as bad as Hamilton Hill. There is nowhere to hide and not enough room in he Hilltowns for all that want to flee.

I guess we shouldn't be surprised that dangerous dogs/animals are roaming the streets................so are shooters, drug dealers/addicts and prostitutes!!!

Does anybody remember the blurb that all the local TV stations used to run?

It's ten o'clock, do you know where YOUR children are?
