Actually, per the chart I just pulled from that website, it's the 4th. First would be City of Schenectady, Schenectady City School District. Second is Scotia-Glenville School District in Scotia. Third is Schenectady City Schools in Rotterdam, then Schalmont in Rotterdam.

I did all the school districts in the county, not just towns. This excludes Schenctady School District in total (which is 2 of the top 4, both in Schenectady and in Rotterdam), and the prices for the Scotia Glenville School District in the village of Scotia. So, as far as towns in the county, yes, Schalmont / Rotterdam is the highest. Either way, they're all way too high.
WEre the rates, as shown, adjusted for equalization rates?
Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent. Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.
The time has come -- actually long over due -- to, at least, merge Mohonasen, Schalmont and Duanesburg School Districts -- though I personally believe the best course of action is to have ONE school district for Schenectady County. We should lead by example and become the first county in the upstate New York to make the move to consolidate our 6 out-dated school districts into a single, more cost efficient and more effective school district.

When you add the Schenectady School District to a mix of decent schools like Schalmont, Mohon, and Duanesburg the result will be the destruction of the good schools which will be dragged down to the level of the poorest performing school.
The whole idea of having 1 school district is to have 1 administration -- there is no need to have 6 superintendents and 6 business managers and 6 building & grounds managers and on and on and on ....
There would be substantial savings by eliminating all of the redundant positions.
As for the actual school buildings -- with 1 school district we could have more effective use of EXISTING classroom space ----- the city school district and mohonasen want to spend millions of dollars to BUILD NEW CLASSROOMS while Schalmont just closed 2 elementary schools because it had too many classrooms --- if there was 1 school district for the whole county .. we could better utilize the existing classroom space and NOT waste money on building more buildings.
as for the negative comments made by the nattering nayboobs about the city schools -- i am mindful that the hate-filled comments came from racists/bigots who are still upset that there leader lost World War II

When Mont Pleasant merged with Linton to form the Schenectady School District both were good schools and after the merger the resulting school district is one of the worst districts in the state. I believe that Schenectady is 84th out of 85. The fact is the merger didn't produce the results that were promised. Mohon and Schalmont are both doing well and as far as I'm concerned the money saved, if any, would not be worth the risk of possibly destroying them with a merger with an inferior school district.
The Schenectady City School District still produces many well educated student DESPITE the significant problems it still has to address.
I think the only reason that the Nattering Nayboobs of Negativity oppose ONE unified school district for the entire county is because at heart -- the Nattering Nayboobs of Negativity are racists and bigots ... afraid that their children or grandchildren might ride the same school bus or sit in the same classroom with people of different recial, ethnic or socio-economic groupings.
How sad that we still have such small-minded people in our town -- but fortunately, I am quite confident that regional consolidation will happen .. and will happen soon.

Why is it with you Dems everything has to be about race and bigotry. The trouble with the city schools are the gangs, bullying, poor quality of education, and the I don't care about an education because I don't have to be smart to be a drug dealer mentality and race has nothing to do with it. Maybe if you ever had kids you would realize what's important to parents.
