No, Saratoga isn't immune to crime..but people still want to live there.

The City of Schenectady is rampant with crime and people don't want to live there.

A change has to happen. The City has to take back the streets, police have to be on the beat on the Hill, in MP and in Bellevue. Have you ever been to the Hill at 10:30 pm? Young kids are riding their bikes, little kids are running the streets, hookers are everywhere and there are NO police...anywhere. Criminals stay where the police won't get them and Schenectady has become a haven.

The City has to lower taxes. Families need to be able to afford a home and landlords will rent to  ANYONE if they can't afford the taxes. The City needs to be respectful to the homeowners, the people who pay their salaries and stop giving money away to businesses who give NOTHING back in return. The neighborhoods need to be addressed and cared for, not ignored and taxed to death.

And the ONLY way that will happen is to revoke ALL tax exemptions downton, and eliminate Metroplex.     Rid the city of the socialism, rid the city of the government funded businesses that steal hard earned money from the financially struggling homeowners.

I have never claimed any city or area was better or worse than any other.   I have said that there are gangs and crime in Saratoga County ... and yes -- in Saratoga Springs.    And the fact is -- those areas are NOT immune from crime and gangs.

OK, so show us the reports of the rampant gangs in Saratoga, provide the links to the news stories and police reports.     Provide us the links to official sources that show the crime rate in Saratoga comes anywhere close to what the socialist Schenectady has.

You can't do that, thus, you are spewing sh*t from your mouth    (ewwwww)

There is another beautiful home that will soon be up for sale but it too is in Schenectady off Union Street.  I was floored when I looked at it.  I would dream of owning such a house.  But I dont want to live in the city and I dont want my child to go to the schools here.  I want to be able to sleep at night knowing that there isnt someone breaking into my car or house.  I want to make sure my child is safe from all the gangs that are all through this city.  I know a lot of people that have been on the look out for buying a home.  And none of them are looking in Schenectady.  They are moving out of the area.  They share the same feelings as I do.  Its sad because of what has happened here.  The ones who did the damage are taking flight because they know they are in for a load of crap.  I feel bad for the next line to take office that has to fix all this bull.

Check this out in Saratoga.....DV says there's crime in Saratoga, but I wonder how much

This has roughly the same as the Schdy house.   Space, historic features in a historic ara.   But look how LOW LOW LOW the taxes are !!!!!   WHEEEEE!

And the value of the house is way more higher than the house in Schendctady.  The house in Schenectady will ONLY go DOWN in value.  This one in Saratoga---the value will only go UP UP UP.

And another in Saratoga.   I'd say this one is even more comparable to the Schenectady house.  I mean, just look at the photo.

See how very much more valueable it is compared to Schenectady, but still look at how SUBSTANTIALLY lower the taxes are.

The City and Metroplex are giving away Downtown properties (to a businesses like Transfinders) because they offer huge property and school tax exemptions. Meanwhile homeowners are stuck not even being able to GIVE their properties away due to the fact that the school and property tax bills are triple that of surrounding towns and cities.

Are we getting it yet????

No, rachel72, we aren't getting it. That last huge tax increase that BS bragged about, you could see the city getting worse BY THE DAY after that, but people still give him credit for "turning things around". Whoever comes in will have to do something about the tax situation, at least spend the tax money where it benefits the taxpayer, like on the roads, and have the city employees do their jobs. We pay police, but evidently they still get to pick and choose what type of laws they feel like enforcing that day. Yesterday, at Nott and Seward, an impromptu parade was spotted, people hanging out of vehicles yelling, one waving a bottle of rum, not bothering to stop for a red light. At least six cars went through the full red light. You would think that might
attract some attention from one of the two police vehicles in the area, but no. Now we have anarchy. Great.

Quite embarrassing, huh?

You can't respond with any information to support your claim that there are gangs up there.  Sure, maybe there is a small amount.   But NO WHERE NEAR the high rate in Schenectady.   But then Saratoga spends the taxpayers money wisely.  And that is reflective of how DRAMATICALLY SUBSTANTIALLY L.OWER their taxes are whch results in people seeing their investment in their home increase.   But then, a person that does not pay taxes would not understand

I noticed this evening while traveling up Union Street that "for sale" signs have sprung up like dandelions on a lawn in springtime. Is it my imagination, or have more properties been listed just since that "melee" or whatever at Union and Glenwood?

The houses are worth so much, the crime rate is so low, the school system is so good, there are so many jobs, and taxes are so low I can't understand why anyone would want to leave.

Scroill up for the original post.

Another house-- that was put in the TU in that weekly feature-- that fancy house on University Place.  Here it is four months later, NO TAKERS!   I went to realtor listings and went all the way down to asking prices of $100,000, i.e., to see if the asking price has been reduced since that thing on the TU site.   Of course asking prices in schenectady CONTINUOUSLY get reduced because no one wants to buy in Schenectady city.

So, four months afterit appeared in that TU feature, still there were no takers.   It is no longer offered for sale, at least not via MLS, and the deed has not changed hands either.

The owner is stuck with those high city taxes and disappearing services.

WHOO!   WHOO!!!

Check out this house for sale.    Notice how the info says "FIRST TIME OPEN" and references open house tomorrow (1/22).      What a HUGE DESPARATE attempt to sell---by LYING via claiming this is first time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Perhaps DV/Hamburg, and perhaps Smoking Bananas can explain why this house was showing SEVEN MONTHS AGO and in a desparate attempt to sell was included in one of those Times Union features (on line),

And WHY WHY WHY WHY this house had a drop in asking price by $30,000 from last June when it was featured---in a desparate attempt to sell--in the TU.

And STILL NO TAKERS!!!!!!!!!!!     Oh yeah DV says the city is improving big time----but DV can't post an answer here to explain why no one wants to buy houses in the city.    And SB still cannot provide post ANY proof form the GCAR website shoing the property values in the city are increasing.

What's the  matter DV and SB????????

MC....that's just sad......and goes to prove that the statement of "your home is your investment" is a lie......there IS NO RETIREMENT OFF THE VALUE OF YOUR HOME.....it's a pig in a poke.....it's a lie....the only reason to own a home
(for a short time) is for off-spring and hopefully you can lock out the OFFICE OF AGING and die peacefully....you know society can't stand to see the aged...........other than that, our elected officials need taxes.....

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......

The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.
