SARATOGA SPRINGS -- The city's chief of police admitted Thursday to sending sexually explicit photographs and texts to a woman he dated, including one that he sent while on the job.

Christopher Cole, who became chief in December 2009, issued an afternoon press statement in which he said that he exchanged sexually charged messages on his cell phone with an unmarried woman named Laurie Masi. He released the statement after Masi, 39, allegedly gave copies of some of the texts to a local television station, sources said.

"The relationship I had with Ms. Masi was between two consenting adults, and sometimes involved conversations and texting of a sexual nature, and on a few occasions, involved each of us texting sexually explicit photos to each other," Cole said in a statement released by attorney Chris Watt. "These photos were always sent and received on my personal cell phone, however, on one occasion, while on my lunch break and not in the course of my duties as chief of police, I texted a photo from my personal cell phone from behind closed doors while in my office at City Hall."

Ya just can't make this stuff up!!!

And the words 'consenting adults' are being used more and more now!!

Funny how ONE of the 'consenting adults' always seems to find a way to forward those pics to the media!!!

Did the cop claim it was a right wing conspiracy that hacked him and lie about it? No.

This is so stupid.

What he does in his personal life is none of anyone's business if it isn't harming someone or illegal.

My goodness this woman is 39 years old and can't handle a relationship breaking up. Get real.  My heart bleeds for her. Boo Hoo.

Next thing you know having sex on a Sunday (it's a holy day for some folks) will get a police chief in trouble after all I believe in his position he is considered responsible for his job duties 24/7.

I don't hear her saying she didn't want these images.  In fact the article indicates it went two ways.

Why do you think they sell Playboy? A majority of people aren't reading it just for the art and beauty of a woman's body.

This whole sexting thing has no 'teeth' one way or the other. It basically comes down to the 'court of public opinion' which doesn't really amount to much in a court of law.

There are no laws on the books regarding sexting. Sure you hear and read the words 'lewd' and 'exhibitionist' when referring to sexting. But the question is.................is it against the law?

And what about teens sexting? Except for total embarrassment, is it illegal or just a new form of porn?

If I'm reading the articles right, Weiner also sent lewd stuff to unsuspecting women who were just trying to use social media sites. I don't care what kind of online relationships he had with these women who are now bragging about it all over the place, but if my daughter got an unsolicited vulgar picture
of a congressman, as one young woman apparently did, I would have a big problem with that. That's no better than the flashers who like to jump out of the bushes around public bike paths when young women go by. The news media seem to be placing the focus on Weiner's online "girlfriends" to frame
the issue as a "consenting adults" one and make it look like a personal moral failing instead of a larger issue, perhaps a crime.
I agree with Cel about the sexting. Except when we end up hearing about it these people should be punished in some way for making the rest of us gag. Please, people; keep it to yourselves!

In Weiner's case the coverup was way worse than the crime! If he came clean immediately and got "counseling" he would already be a combo victim/hero.

SARATOGA SPRINGS
Woman in sexting flap may sue Cole, city
Legal action planned over decision to release name
BY LEE COLEMAN Gazette Reporter
from his wife for 3 /2 years.

A 39-year-old Glenville woman is planning legal action against Saratoga Springs Police Chief Christopher Cole and the city for identifying her as the woman with whom Cole had exchanged sexually explicit text messages and photos.
Cole released a statement Thursday admitting he had an “intermittent” personal relationship with the woman and, using his personal cell phone, sometimes exchanged sexually explicit photos and text messages with her.
He also named the woman, Laurie Masi, in the statement.
Masi has retained The DeLorenzo Law Firm to represent her in a civil rights case against the city, the city police department, and Cole, said Paul DeLorenzo of the Schenectady-based law fi rm.
DeLorenzo said Friday that Cole’s decision to “publicly identify Ms. Masi, a private citizen who simply wanted to distance herself from him and his unwanted behaviors, has had immediate consequences for Ms. Masi and her children and sends a chilling message to those who seek only to be left alone.” Masi has children ages 6 and 10 but is not currently married, he said.
Shortly after a local television station contacted Saratoga Springs Public Safety Commissioner Richard Wirth this week about a woman who planned to release, on-air, information about Cole and his sexually explicit text message and photos, Cole “publicly identifi ed Ms. Masi in a news release that grossly mischaracterized the nature of their relationship,” DeLorenzo said in a statement.
DeLorenzo said at one time Cole and Masi did have a consensual relationship but that Masi had told Cole to stop sending the explicit text messages and photos. .....................>>>>.......................>>>>...................http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r01100&AppName=1
