You'll find plenty of Attorneys that feel that way, I work with many of them. They'll recoup the lost income by increasing their rates... which is what every corporation will do.
Still, tax increases without MEANINGFUL cuts will just continue the Nanny state and pre-dispose people to look for the gub'met handout instead of trying to make it on their own.

Tax increases can be used to pay down the debt... especially since the reason for the debt in the first place  was the Tax Cuts.

It's not going to work without spending cuts...

You really believe this don't you?

AMERICA DOESN'T PRODUCE ANYTHING.  What are you going to do,,,tax the rich banker that gets the cheap money fresh off the printing presses?  You can't just print money then tax it at a higher rate and reduce a deficit.  And that's exactly what we are doing.

"Rich People are not the Cause of a robust economy, they are the Result of a Robust Economy."

Millionaires are telling you that the Bush Tax Cuts for the Rich were a mistake and are hurting the economy.

It's time for all Americans to pay their fair share of taxes.

You could tax the millionaires at 100% and it wouldn't even start to put a dent in our debt so without severe cuts in spending the country will keep going further into debt.

If all you hear is Right Wing Propaganda... you'll actually begin to believe it as fact.

Well, if the rich believe they should be taxed more, I know for a fact that the IRS would greatly appreciate any additional money that any individual or company wishes to send them.

http://www.irs.gov/instructions/i1040ez/ar02.html#d0e4590

Quoted Text
How do you make a gift to reduce debt held by the public?   If you wish to do so, make a check payable to “Bureau of the Public Debt.” You can send it to: Bureau of the Public Debt, Department G, P.O. Box 2188, Parkersburg, WV 26106-2188. Or you can enclose the check with your income tax return when you file. Do not add your gift to any tax you may owe. See page 19 for details on how to pay any tax you owe.

And ironically, for those who wish to pay more than their "fair share," the site also says:

Quoted Text
You may be able to deduct this gift on your 2011 tax return

Therefore, there is no reason to raise the taxes on the rich.  If they wish to pay additional taxes, they can just send a check.

Something for all of us to consider:

~A tax cut for one group, with out a like spending cut, is a TAX INCREASE for everyone not in the group.~

A tax cut for, say, Left Handed People, with out a like spending cut, is actually a Tax Increase for Right Handed People.  Those not in the tax cut group now have to pay the additional taxes not paid by the tax exempt group.

A Tax Cut for the Rich... Is a Tax Increase for everyone else.

That video is the most simplistic silly explaination I have ever heard.  AN ECONOMIC BUBBLE BURST BECAUSE OF THE ARTIFICIALLY LOW INTEREST RATES SET BY THE FED AND LOW CREDIT STANDARDS.  America leveraged an economic boom with money that never existed.  With QE1 and QE2, we are propping up the economy that never existed with MORE cheap money, we only created 53,000 jobs last month.  Wait until that money runs out, then look at the jobs numbers - brace yourself.  Box, you think all we have to do is tax all this money that never existed and things would be ok.  You're mistaken.  The politicians are creating a public debate that doesn't even address cause of the economic problems.  That's because class warfare helps divide the people and win elections.

The only part of the video that is accurate is the spending on war and tarp helped dig us into this hole.

No Cicero YOU'RE WRONG!
All the reasons on that video, including a huge tax  cut at a time when the USA was funding 2 wars is the reason for the debt.

Cicero... When you use the "Druggy Rush ploy" of misstating what I THINK... It only shows your desperation and lack of facts.   ~"Box, you think all we have to do is tax all this money that never existed and things would be ok."~    Is that really the best you can do???

To get the USA out of this Bush Economic Disaster... we need to increase taxes, decrease spending where possible, cut spending (IMO by ending the Iraq & Afghanistan wars,) decrease military spending... (especially on weapons systems even the military never needed or no longer wants), and create jobs.

Druggy Rush ploy???  Huh...You created the thread "Tax me...PLEASE"  I didn't, the administrator didn't, Kevin didn't.  Still waiting the for the "Cut my entitlements...PLEASE" thread. Or the "Stop expanding foreign wars...PLEASE" thread.  I think box is starting crack up.

We have an economy the was manipulated by politicians for political reasons.  This isn't a sound economy, hasn't been for a while, we are now feeling the cumulative effect of market manipulation by politicians, and politicians are realizing the economy is so broke, that there is no political answer. The results will be hyperinflation and/or skyrocketing interest rates which is going to happen during the worst possible time, during a retracting economy.

If we want to sustain this huge government, the money is going to come from somewhere, and it will be the middle class that will be wiped out.
