SCHENECTADY
State aid policy forces district to keep borrowing State funding comes at school year’s end

BY KATHLEEN MOORE Gazette Reporter
Reach Gazette reporter Kathleen Moore at 395-3120 or moore@dailygazette.com

............. http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....nbsp;  The district is getting $90.9 million from the state this year. In the first six months of the school year, it had received only $23.5 million.
But that’s not the only government body that is slow to pay the school district. The city of Schenectady still hasn’t paid the district for the $3.7 million in taxes unpaid by property owners last year. The city is required by state law to make the school district whole when owners don’t pay.
But the City Council told the school board not to expect the money until next year — at the earliest. The council is now trying to get the county to pay the bill instead, but that would require an act of the state Legislature.
While the district waits, more bills are piling up. The city owes the district $5.4 million for taxes unpaid this year.

Or keep up City property. Check the grass at the new DSS Taj Mahal-6 feet high and rising. The deterioration of Central Park is well documented. Mayor Lunn would be appalled!

The DEMS depleted all City reserves-the DEMS can't pay their school taxes due-the DEMS can't pay their County taxes due-all fiscal incompetents not one runs a private business! BUT re-elect DEMS again because they have good intentions and of course working together works! The DEMS who can't find a proper cricket field and the popcorn popper at Proctor's will turn it around-lol.

What's so surprising about this story? The City leaders ignore the homeowners and let their neighborhoods deteriorate into a battle zone. Now the City ignores the welfare of the children in public schools.

It's proof positive that the City leaders are only in position to help themselves and not the residents or children of Schenectady.

The surprise it that the Gazetto actually printed it. It's all old news but a delightful rehash of the DEM working together crews actual achievements. The message is starting to register with the sheeple. Taxes up, crime up, neighborhoods down, resale values crashing and all DEMS pile driving the City deeper into the dirt.

Unpaid property taxes are up $2 MILLION from last year....OMG!!! A grand total of almost $10Million for 2 years!! OMG!!

The city/county is falling apart rapidly. The 'friends and family club' business folks continue to be exempt from paying taxes. The home owners are shouldering the tax base which they 'obviously' can no longer afford!!

Crime is on the rise! Taxes are the highest in the state! One of the highest vacancy rates in the state! Can't afford to repair roads! The dss building is busting at the seams! The best welfare package in the state! Drug addicts/dealers and gangs are over running the city! The county is now the proud owner of TWO Hamiton Hills!! And a school system that is unaffordable!!

And since the democons either don't know how, or refuse to fix the problem..........they are all jumping ship!!

Let's bring schenectady back to square one.........and start all over again.........the realistic way!!

Kudo's to the gazette/kathleen moore for the article!!

Notice this story, that the city dems failed to do what the law mandates.

And DV is 100% silent.  His dem buddies did major wrong, and DV can't respond to this.  Oh, he might read this and post the typical "yawn" word or similar, but he WILL NOT post directly on the topic.

Let's see what he says when the city taxes go up big time, lets see whether he still support spending tax moneyt on gin mills downtown.

Ah, he probaly will still support spending tax money on downtown....becuase DV DOES NOT PAY TAXES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Doesn't own a house so doesn't pay taxes
Doesn't have a job so doesn't pay income taxes
Doesn't have investments (that he claims he does) because any adult man who has a next egg would not be living a mama's boy life

Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent.
Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and
speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

As Rachel would say what's new about that? It was just reported that Schenectady is the ONLY City in the State that ignores a State law on pension budgeting. Nobody cares. It's all about the kids-until because of the City DEM morons there is no money for the kids. Nobody cares. Where's Ann Reilly on this latest DEM outrage? She was for openness! lol Kids are screwed over just like everyone else.

Where is the record City property tax money going? DEM friends and family hires, golf "pro", City vehicle fleet, city cellphones, new DPW garage, any nonprofit with half baked ideas-but nothing for street repairs, nor to pay City obligations to the school district and County. Keep voting straight DEM for continued DEM implosion.
