Quoted from CICERO
Where Schenectady is failing is, we are attempting to create non production service jobs to replace the production jobs lost when GE downsized.  There is no real wealth in Schenectady anymore, we produce NOTHING, we are now service oriented.  Our elected leaders think by opening bars and restaurants around a theater, we can attract people from the areas where there is real productivity and wealth.  NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.  We will always be behind Saratoga and Albany in service and entertainment.  If Schenectady were smart, we would start updating and preparing our infrastructure and industrial sites for the new modern factories, so when the national economy finally goes belly up and the dollar crashes, and the economy goes from consumption to production, we will be able to attract the modern manufacturers during the industrial rebirth.(lets just hope they're not Chinese owned)

Excellent analysis.

And DV is still too much of a chicken to respond to YET ANOTHER piece of PROOF POSITIVE that the spending millions of the taxpayer money has NOT provided what it was predicted.

Well DV?????

Sales Tax revenues were down during that period in MANY counties across the WHOLE country due to the BUSH RECESSION/DEPRESSION.

Any reasonable and intelligent person would comprehend that -- of course MC is a dumb f#ck who couldn't findhis-her way out of a paper bag.

Yes but no other County in the NATION has a Metrograft that flushed $100 million in taxpayer funds when it was created to increase sales tax revenues and create jobs.  The DEMS took this money and carved it up like pieces of pie to hand out to the DEM friend and family club. No infrastructure improvements, no new industrial parks, no road repair. Sales tax revenues down-unemployment way up. Streets in the City look like a third world country. So do the residential neighborhoods and former business districts.

Oh...So what you're saying is, Metroplex has no impact on the economy, accept for the fact that the majority party can take $100 million of our tax money and hand it over to their cronies - you know - to help them weather the national recession.

Only a dumb fu(k like DV would admit that metroplex has had no economic impact to argue his case for supporting metroplex and its impact.

Attached are links to Schenectady County unemployment and population.  The inception of Metroplex was 1998.  Chart the unemployment rate along with the population over the course of time since the inception of Metroplex. The Metroplex claim to 3500 new jobs is about equal to the increase of population.  And look at the unemployment rate in Schenectady County since 1998, it has been trending higher over the 12 year period.

For some reason I can't link the unemployment graph, so just google Schenectady County unemployment statistics and it will be on top.

Sooner or later ALL the pols. running for elective office should lay out their respective stance on the Plex.   Their comments of support or critzisms should be made public.   What they envision for it, it's future etc.   Even though it is a county run operation what they do affects the cities/towns when any decisions are made on their behalf.   If a decision is made on an idea that is supposed to help a city/town with it's finances and it fails(Parker Inn) then said city suffers as well, since they in part depended on such a ventures success to help with the city's budget.   Whether directly or indirectly.   In any case county AND city council members, town board members and the like should be "pinned" down to their stance.   It will be most obvious what views most Dems. fall into, but nonetheless let's have ALL of them state their respective views/stance on the Plex.   The voters deserve this information.
