Word has it that the mansion is vacant or soon will be, this is the rectory of St. John's across from Union College.  It's dangerous and the priests are moving to the old rectory of St. Mary's up the road.

Too costly to fix it, or maybe they'll do it, but it will take a while to get enough funds together.

I haven't heard anything about the Ellis mansion but was doing some reading on it's history and came across some info on 821 Union St which was built by Willis Hansen, a notable city businessman. He purchased the land from Union College.  Now that Dellaratta kid owns the mansion and is renting to a pack of Union students so no doubt it is falling into disrepair. It was when he first bought it and I don't think he has done anything to maintain it.

I think Dellaratta was going to do a B&B but that never panned out. It needed lots of work at that point so I can only imagine that it is
deteriorating and that is really a shame. It's a beautiful buliding with nice grounds. What a waste of part of our citys history.

More renaissance news! The rectory right across from the college is now too dangerous. And Eastern Ave is safer? Too bad something can't be done with the old St Mary's school. A great building in the midst of Hamilton Hill East. The entire City is in DEM free fall. Take a ride on Dean St if you have a 4 wheel drive with heavy duty shocks.

St John's rectory  - the old Ellis mansion - is much older that St. Mary's rectory.   The Ellis Mansion dates to around the Civil War and St. Mary's rectory to sometime after 1893.

It is assinine to blame any political party or public official for the structural integrity of a privately owned building.    MC and his-her merry band of wacko idiots have sunk to a new low --- goes to show they are worse than pond sucking scum.

How can we possible blame the DEMS who have run City Council for the past straight 35 years for the total collapse of the City? Let's reach back to Frank Duci years for the current DEM free fall. It's his fault the streets are impassible and the rot has spread to every neighborhood in the City. Shut up and call the SNAP team. Right the number has been disconnected. The money handed out to yet another nonprofit.

Do you realize how ignorant your remarks are?     I would guess not -- but blaming the city because a 150 year old building owned by a church is in need of major rehabilitation -- has got to be among the top 3 stupidest things ever posted on this website   (granted most everything by Benny Salami would qualify for the top 5 stupidest comments).

Impossible to bump you off of the top ten dumbest with your park/Savage/Metrograft cheer leading. Not to mention the double posts. If you read the issue was not just the building but the crime. Of course, the DEM morons running City Hall for 35 straight years have nothing to do with the exploding crime rate in every neighborhood. Rotsa Ruck this year you have a full slate of City Council opponents.

Uh, DV, would you care to find a phrase or sentence in my initial post where I said that any political party or official is/was to blame????   Huh?   Well?????     Come on DV.   Once again, you make a statement and once again you CANNOT PROVIDE any proof.

So come on DV, tell me where i wrote who is at fault.   I'm waiting, DV.   We will all be waiting for you to proivde proof of where I said that, and for sure we'll be waiting longer than how long we will wait for EE to come back to work to do the job she is getting paid to do

You really need to proof read what you write.   Actually, when you write something, just provide the proof to start with, ok?   (hahaha, he'd never post again)

Really showing your "Catholic" attitude there Ronnie.  Did Howard tell you it was ok to talk like that - or did you learn it in your seminary classes?

You cared enough to write implying that I was blaming the political side for issues with the Ellis Mansion/rectory.    But when I ask you to show everyone where I pointed such blame, and you cannot do so, you can't even be a mature adult and respond by apologizing and saying you were wrong.

I didn't mention a specific person by name --- apparently the he-she earthworm has a guilty conscience.

At the time YOU posted that there was my post and two other replies.   Then you posted the above reply.  I DEFY YOU to post the EXACT words from message 1 or 2 or 3 where ANYONE wrote that any political party is responsible for the problems, structural or otherwise, of the former Ellis Mansion.

Come on DV, provide PROOF of what you stated   You CANNOT provide ANY proof that ANYONE is blaming political party/leaders/admin for the problems with that mansion.  Again, I DEFY you to provide the exact words from any message that existed AT THGE TIME YOU WROTE your post, message # 4.

Well DV??????    Care to provide ANY proof to support YOUR comment?????   Well??????

Oh, come on ... Ron NEVER supplies proof or evidence to back up the statements he makes in these forums.  They're just used to get his "online identity" out there and open his mouth about something.

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for an answer.  Just because you asked a question about statements he makes, all he can do is call you an "earthworm".  Sounds like a 5th grader looking for attention.
