In Gazette today,5/27, classified section, page C8 ,5th column.   Believe this is the 4th one we've seen for the Inn in the past 2 weeks.   Anyone else out there notice this?   Is this a definite sale to take place.   The Plex is mentioned in the notice.

Metroplex assists slow-starting inn
Parker gets $350,000 loan

SCHENECTADY - The first four months of business at the Parker Inn has been so slow that the Metroplex Development Authority approved a $350,000 loan Monday to keep the hotel afloat.

That raises the total of public subsidies to $1.8 million in grants and loans for the $3.7 million project.

Additional expenses to rehabilitate the State Street hotel and a low occupancy rate has cost the owner, Chris Myers, more than he anticipated.

Parker Inn does better, Metroplex says
Subsidized downtown hotel draws more revenue, corporate accounts

Publication: Daily Gazette, The (Schenectady, NY)
SCHENECTADY -- Chris Myers is sounding more optimistic these days now that the Parker Inn, his $3.5 million investment in downtown Schenectady, is doing better.

"This was a calculated risk on my part. I can see the light and the worst is behind us," he said.

Figures released Wednesday by the Metroplex Development Authority confirmed Myers' optimism. Metroplex closely monitors the Parker Inn's financial condition after...

This is evidence of a renaissance and continued growth of the good work the New Team has been doing to make the city a miracle.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

How is it that Metroplex has lost millions of dollars (taxpayer money) from bad investments, yet no one is being held accountable.

If Gillen worked in a private sector business, they would have fired him long ago.

He never would have been hired. A total complete failure. Instead of firing him he wins awards!

The Gazetto continues to run interference with phony breathless "news". There was interest in the Armory? From who? The Inn is doing better? Compared to zero? The Lion King brought million in? Where? To Toronto not Schenectady. The old MVP building will be snapped up? In what century? There will be an announcement of a major corporation coming to the failed 440 Arts on State? That was in December-still nada. It's all made up news. Things are worse. More businesses are closing. Still no customers. Still too much crime. Taxes are killing everyone.

Perhaps if Hull is elected, and if the plex is forced to continue, he will sh!t can gillen, like any boss in the private sector would have done a long time ago and replace him with someone FROM the private sector who is in touch with economic REALITY in schenectady.

ROFLMAO !!!!!!!

Hey, DV!      Well?   You're NOT going to respond to this one are you?????    Too embarrassing to see the mis-use of tax dollars.

So DV, what have you got to say?   $2 MILLION in taxpayer dollars that could have been used to fix roads, cover the cost of trash collection, fix the sewers in the city, reduce taxes on the financially struggling homeowners, but where did it go?????   Well?????    Where is the money DV

Tell us DV, tell us what this particular $2 million has done for the people of the city?

Watch the silence or the "yawn" or the nonsense answer.   Would be interesting to hear whether DV is going to say it was a wise use of money for the time it lasted, whether it was wise use of money rather than putting the money toward essential servicies, or why he things spending two million on the hotel would be considered esssential to the homeowners as preferred to fixing roads and taking care of trash.  Or why it was better to tax people twice for trash pick-up in order to give this $2 million for a government hotel

Oh yes, this has got to get on the news.

Just think - the parker inn PAID the gazette for the legal notice.  Even THAT didn't get the DG off their asses to investigate/report the story.

Great work DG ... awesome!

Missteps? ROTFLMAO!! Who the hell is Grahammy? Death Ray wasted MILLIONS on the Big Hose, Van Dyke I and 2, Parker Inn, Gillette House and of course his lasting rehab Gillen's Gulch former home of Robinson Furniture.

Yes, before Death Ray got hired for $200,000 a year by SS Savage we actually had retail Downtown! He's not bad-he's pathetic. Not one real accomplishment but he will be coming back to the County for another increase in his lending. And the DEM morons will approve it because they have all thrown in for this failure.

I remember retail Downtown too. Little vitamin shops, pizza places, furniture stores and the old standby CVS. Ten to fifteen years ago Downtown might not have looked as 'pretty' but it was bringing in tax dollars.

Why would an entity like Metroplex just begin to give away the real estate Downtown? When you give something away, it generally has no value. This holds true for Downtown. Little to no tax dollars helping the City or schools and millions spent ignoring the neighborhoods.

PS: had to be Downtown on Thursday morning and it's still not comfortable for a woman to walk by herself there.

I can recall when the plex was first started. I thought it was a great idea....'back then'. It was supposed to encourage entrapranuralship.

Someone I knew went to the plex to help start a small business 10 years ago. The plex loaned them $3K. (which they paid back) With the loan came a total oversight by the plex of their business.

MONTHY....business folks from the plex would visit the business. They would look at their books and give them advice on how to better the business. They were given advise on how to advertise/market their business, as well as advice on where they should cut  to increase their profit margin.

I viewed that as being 'responsible for the taxpayer's money' while at the same time supporting and guiding a new business for success. It appeared to be a win-win situation.

HOWEVER.........the plex grew into a beast! While I was applauding the plex's efforts to encourage and support entrapranuralship, other folks were balking at the idea of tax payer money investing and supporting private businesses. They said, back then, that it would be a run-a-way train!!! And alas.......they were correct!!!

Through the years, the plex has abandoned it's grass roots ideology on business success and has instead embraced the chosen few in the friends and family club which has just about bankrupted the residents of the city. So today I stand corrected........it is in fact a failed run-a-way train and should be abolished.

As a side note........this person's business failed!
