SACC Inc. Meeting Tues May 24

Do you want the public to be a part of public access?  Join SACC Inc.. It has to start somewhere.

I am sure there will be some, it only figures.

All SACC Inc. wants is to be a part of the process of "Public" Access Television.  I am speaking as just one member not on their board or anything.  Be a team player sort of king of thing.  But as it stands things are so difficult to do with OSM well impossible.

Just talking about the TV Production technical aspects.  Since OSM there are now 3 usable channels before the other two were $.  They are available both in the clear and in digital format.  There are now committee meetings done live.  Although the production side of the city council meetings is a real overkill on the artsy fartsy stuff. Damn it I wish they would drop the stupid garbage graphic.  Monday's cc meeting had write ups of what the topics were on the right side which was kinda nice.  

Keeping in mind 1. have connections on the political forefront and 2. they have a tremendous amount of updated production equipment and city support that John and the guys didn't have but what is missing that John Harnden and the guys had is "heart."  From the heart, for and by the community.

What is so sick is that video that they had a while back promoting all OSM has to offer was so biased and inaccurate.  If the public was involved that never would have ever occurred!  Just wouldn't.

I realize Benny Salami keeps nit picking about some bad camera shots but Benny try it some time yourself.  I had worked 14 years for a TV Network, a somewhat more intense environment than a stand alone station and know first hand what goes into a production being I have done everything from operations, camera to audio production/engineering, directing. editing and maintenance.  

My history with all that was quite some time ago in the 80' and 90' but the concepts are the same just the sophistication of the equipment has changed.  Gosh, I used to roll video tapes that were 2" wide now look it no more tape all DVD's

All that being said "Community" should be the foundation of the PEG channels and it isn't.

I have no idea what will be discussed tonight.  I just joined last year and have only attended a few board of directors meetings and not any members meetings.  I hope many members come and maybe some new community members too.

Folks that have a concern about what has happened to Public Access NEED to get to these meetings, be a part of the movement to bring "Public" back to Public Access".

Thought I would share with you how it went.

The "Mission" of SACC Inc. is helping folks to produce their own programs or PSA's for air on OSM or wherever.  

I did see one person there that had me wondering the reasons they were there but I don't know their history of being involved with the old SACC-TV Public Access so I can't tell for sure.  Just gonna have to ride this one out and see where it goes. There were Democrats, Alliance Party and Republicans there and probably a few from other parties too, who knows.

One person from the membership felt a need to speak up and explained their 20 year history with volunteering at Proctors and their long standing interests in SACC-TV over the years too.  Seems someone questioned them personally about the relationship.  Unfortunate they had to justify their motivations about being involved with SACC Inc. but can understand their reasoning for addressing it publicly.  I don't know them personally but I do know of them and have seen the impacts they have made in our city and it's good to see they are a part of SACC Inc.

There were some comments from the membership regarding OSM.  Saying it has made strides in the things they are offering. The people were being honest.  I got a sense they think the same as me, there are some realities and facts that can't be denied in that regard.  They prefer to stay with SACC Inc. though and help it along on it's mission just as I am.  They are wonderful assets to the organization.

One person questioned the way the cable channels are allocated. I couldn't quite understand what they meant but I do know they are well versed in the history of Public Access SACC-TV.  I think my not knowing the history led to my confusion

There was a vote on new board members.

If you stayed around long enough for the board meeting they had voting for officers.  From my perspective  good choices were made.

SACC Inc. has some concrete plans already in the works.  They are moving forward, SACC has not died.

Cel can you post a new officers list? Want to see how many leftovers who turned our public TV over to Mercury Morris/OSM are still "leading".

What the hell are they doing by putting up the garbage p/u schedule on the screen when someone is speaking during privilege of the floor?

Good question.  Someone mentioned it seems to occur the most when those that question the city like Riggi that that junk comes up.  There is no way you could read the blasted things so what is their purpose?

OSM thinks the meetings are full blown productions or TV shows and that is not what that TV coverage is about.  It is to provide the proceeding to the people plain and simple.

I can appreciate the column on the right with text about the issue coming up but they need to cut out all the other junk but those lug heads just don't get it.  Those garbage schedules need to go.

You are right, you can't even read the thing! I had to call someone and ask them what the hell it was. IT IS RUDE!!! Especially during privilege of the floor. Why don't they do it when the council members are talking?

It's totally inappropriate and a distraction. They only put them up when Vince Riggi, Mary McClaine or Harry Brandt speak. Never when the acting Mayor or some esteem council person is blathering on. It's another example of media bias-OSM is saying that the private citizen is not important.

     If you want another laugh tune in right at 7pm for the idiotic new intro. 20 year old photos of your favorite machine DEM in action with this horrible marshal music. As if this is an actual democracy? Keep up the good work Cel. We need more watchdogs like you.

Thanks Benny.  There is not much anyone can do at this point in regards to OSM they are here to stay but what SACC Inc can offer is to help folks produce their shows or PSA's for air.  Then they can give OSM the DVD for air.

At the moment you cannot use OSM equipment to produce your own shows etc. without certification. Supposedly you have to be trained and be certified.  Yeah right, they haven't offered any from what I hear.
