Gadfly seems to know a lot about prescription drugs, psychosis, and what liberals think... but not much else.

(When they attack you personally, instead of your posts, you know you've struck a nerve.)

If I had any detailed knowledge of prescription drugs I would have recommended one specifically...but the best I can do is
recommend a class of drugs...your doctor should know which one is best for you.

Thanks for confirming my last post....projectionists....just as you accused Cicero of being stoned when he challenged you and
you couldn't come up with a rational, relevant response.

"Libertarianism in One Lesson", or, "How the rest of the world sees Libertarianism".

My personal favorites:
~ "Taxation is theft because we have a right to squat in the US and benefit from defense, infrastructure, police, courts, etc. without obligation."

These things can be paid though local usage taxes.  Local communities and states can agree to pay for these very things you mention above based on usage.  The federal government shouldn't be handing out hundreds of thousands of dollars of our money collected though income tax to pay for pet projects in local communities like a park. You don't auto deduct a percentage of my pay before I'm even issued my check to pay for services I don't use or care to have.  That is theft.

Wouldn't it be "I got mine, I don't want yours, and everybody can keep theirs too"?

No Cicero,  It wouldn't.

The Libertarians who really do want to be totally independent, can do so, but first, they need to start from scratch... not TAKE from the past. No roads, no infrastructure, no cities, no phones, no anything.
Unless they are willing to start from scratch and not TAKE what was GIVEN to them from past generations... they will always be parasites, TAKING from the fruits of past generations, and GIVING nothing to the FUTURE.

It is more than obvious that boxy is in some way, shape or form on the government teet!!!

People like boxy can't rely on themselves for their own personal survival! They need the handouts.......why?.....cause it's easier.

Boxy clearly has nothing for the government to take since s/he only has what the government gives him/her.

Now we understand!!

Bumble,
You know nothing about me but you make these assumptions, because it fits YOUR agenda, or it quiets your guilt.
Except when I was in the military, I've worked in private business all my life.  I own my own home, car, toys, investments etc, with no debt.
What I earn is mine, but I have a responsibility to help those less fortunate than I.
I earned my living by hard work, not by handouts.

When you assume that I MUST be on the dole because I promote opportunity for the future, it says a lot more about you than it does about me.

There are so few who challenge the Right on this board, that any dissent... anyone questioning their agenda, is considered radical.

Questioning is good Box how else can people learn. I give my viewpoints and you give yours, it's up to others to decide which they agree with. For all I know maybe nobody here agrees with me but that is why they will give their viewpoints and maybe we can all learn from that. Difference is I will not force my viewpoints unto others with laws, which others seem to have no problem with, in doing that you strip away right from those who disagree with your viewpoint as we talked about on the other thread.

You consider it a responsibility, while I think it should be a choice...huge difference

I think it's easy for Libertarians to say they will not force their viewpoints on others... since they are not in power and have not had the opportunity to do so.

If this were a libertarian ruled country, I'm sure it would have evolved with it's share of laws that, like present law, were enacted for the public good.  Roads need to be built, (on rare occasions) wars need to be fought, education needs to be funded and society needs to be protected from crime, disease and natural disasters.

The 'libertarian utopia' is only a dream... making it a reality would create a whole set of circumstances and regulation that might look much like today's present form of govt... complete with laws that you now protest.

If you feel that is the right thing to do then God bless you, however I get the feeling you believe the government has the right to take from me to give to the less fortunate without my consent. I have no problems helping others who are less fortunate but I do so at my own consent with my money I worked for.

Yup, it's a difference.  I OWE to those in the past that made it possible for me to be successful.  I owe for those who built this country and left it for me to continue.  I OWE, because I TOOK.  Some feel it's OK to TAKE, and TAKE and TAKE, but they have no debt for all they've TAKEN.

What was given from past generations - the invention of the car, the invention of the light bulb, the invention of the air plane?  These things were invented by brilliant people without government guidance and regulation, and they deserve every penny for there time sweat and talent.  What do the Wright Brothers owe to future generations?  NOTHING!!!  Future generations enjoy the fruits of the Wright Brothers labor.  Imagine if the Wright Brothers were alive today trying to fly?  The amount of insurance, and licensing, and regulation mandated by government would be incredible.  Then if they were able to overcome the government obstacles and were able to take flight and in turn produce airplanes, the government leeches like Box would be so far in their pockets, looking to freeload off of their talents and fruits of their labor.

The only TAKE-TAKE-TAKERS, are those that don't produce $hit.  And please Box, be realistic, America is not $14 Trillion dollars in debt because of infrastructure, courts, and police.

Boxy......I'd bet the farm that you are/were receiving some taxpayer handout from the government teet!!!!

So are you receiving your hand out for life or is it or was it just temporary? Care to elaborate?

There are many liberal/dem/socialists, like yourself, who go to the government to ask for money to spruce up their businesses.......at the taxpayer's expense......when they could well afford it themselves. What teet are you hanging on to?

Henry,
There is a recurring point that seems to be missed or ignored.

You say you Worked for your money... I believe you, but you didn't create it all on your own.  You USED the system left here for you.  Phones, hospitals, roads computers... You didn't invent these things or install them in  your community... they were here when you got here.  YOU TOOK ADVANTAGE OF WHAT WAS LEFT HERE FOR YOU to earn what you have.

You must admit, that you worked inside the system... you didn't create the system, some one else did.  Your bank where you keep YOUR money... is safe because of others... YOUR money is safe there because of the police paid for by OTHERS... NOT YOU.  "No man is an island" and especially in this context... you worked in a system paid for by others to earn YOUR MONEY.

You got it for FREE.  IMO, you owe the future for what the past provided for you.
