Hannaford pitches in for Little League Spotlight Staff 05/12/11
As part of the annual Pitch for Kids initiative, Hannaford Supermarkets will step up to the plate with a donation of $18,000 to the Schenectady County Little League Baseball program.
The field is located off Hamburg Street; between First and Fourth Avenue. The presentation will take place at 12:30 p.m.
Representatives from Hannaford Supermarkets will join league presidents and ballplayers from Schenectady County Little League to announce the donation during the Opening Day Ceremony for Carman Little League.
The $18,000 donation will subsidize entry fees and provide equipment for underserved children between the ages of 5-12 who are eligible to participate in youth softball and baseball programs.
Since beginning the Pitch for Kids initiative in 2007, Hannaford Supermarkets has made an annual donation to youth softball and baseball programs in various counties throughout the Greater Capital Region, Hudson Valley and Mohawk Valley. In total, including this year’s donation, Hannaford has contributed $163,000 to local Little League programs.
That sounds great. Too bad they didn't donate it to Rotterdam, who needs to use money to build their new fields that FDG hasn't started working on yet, as promised and stated that he did so well in last year.
Gee, you would think the downtown city millionaires could each sponsor a whole individual leage themselves, They DO have the financial wherewithall to FULLY fund these leages without having league parents shell out one penny.
Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent. Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.
