Drive grows for states to recognize ‘personhood’

Mississippi voters are likely to be the first in the nation to add to their state constitution "personhood" language that declares unborn children to be persons, effectively outlawing abortion and setting up a potential Supreme Court showdown — if they get a chance to vote on it in November.

On June 6, the Mississippi Supreme Court is scheduled to hear oral arguments in a pre-emptive court challenge against Measure 26, a ballot question that would define a person as a "human being from the moment of fertilization."

Personhood bills are seen as a direct attack on Roe v. Wade, the 1973 Supreme Court decision that made abortion a right under the U.S. Constitution. Roe implied that if unborn babies were legal "persons," they would have a right to life under the 14th Amendment, pro-life groups say.

The Alabama Legislature is considering two personhood bills this month, and at least seven other state legislatures introduced similar bills this year, said Keith Mason, a Christian minister who launched Personhood USA in 2008 with fellow evangelist Cal Zastrow.........................>>>>....................>>>>...................http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2011/apr/21/drive-grows-for-states-to-recognize-personhood/

MT, look who came to our party...
MT, This is Mike, or maybe it's Mary (the sex hasn't been determined yet).  Mike/Mary is a PERSON... Or what used to be known as a 'human zygote' until some Right Wing Lunatics renamed him/her.

MT, don't ya just love the color of Mike/Mary's eyes?  Oh yea... He/She doesn't have any eyes, or a brain, or an arm or leg, or heart, or lungs, or skin, or a thought, or much of anything.

Take a good look at this P E R S O N... so you'll recognize Mike/Mary if you should pass them on the street!

A PERSON? TOTALLY RIDICULOUS!

You may not recognize it, but the God that created it does.

"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations."

The sex of the baby is determined in the first 24 hours - dependent on if the sperm used to fertilize the egg has an X or Y Chromosome.

Now tell me, what part of sanctifying human life, and believing it starts at the moment of conception, makes me a "right winger" (political ideology)?

Some believe that humans exist as SPIRITS  before they are born.  They use Jer 1:5 to defend their viewpoint.  God is talking to Jeremiah, who wasn't expecting the job of profit.

Moble terminal  you did not pay attention in biology 101- read up  a little more and get back to us with a definition of life- not your personal definition- because that doesn't mean diddly squat  and  you quoting scripture out of context ? is wrong-

when god shows up and has a direct conversation with a power point presentation I can only know what is directly in front of me.....

as for the choice....god also gave that....atleast that's what free will is? or isn't it? so abortion can be legal....it's the free will of those that choose not to have one that
makes it that personal......keep it to yourself....once the government labels something that personal and writes a law, you never get it back again.....kind of like
Christmas becoming a national holiday....it was usurped from the church......the ability of a religious group to follow their religion is what the government is to protect...
so there you go....you get to choose not to have an abortion and the government cannot force one on your person.....

Dont be so quick as to allow the government to insidiously usurp the individuals personhood into legalism.....this will become a podium puck of the freakish kind......
once we let the government take that language it can (and will) be used against your reasoning mind to break you.....

this personhood has committed a victimless hate crime according to the laws of the Patriot Act......be careful what we allow the government to rule as their domain over us

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......

The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.

Why, by your very argument, you gave the govt the ability to take AWAY human life ... either in the womb, or a jail cell.

Don't tell me to "keep it to myself".  We have the right to free speech, and as much as I disagree with Tom above, I'll defend to my death the right for him to say it.  Unless of course, you want the govt to take that "choice" away as well?

It seems that MT and other Right Wingers are attempting to push their religious views on the rest of America.
MT & Crew can believe in ghosts, if they want to, that's OK with me, but to FORCE the rest of America to abide by their Religious views is illegal.  (See The US Constitution, First Amendment)

This is a ballot issue - the people have spoken in MS - and soon to be more.  Nobody is forcing them, everyone has a vote - majority wins.

when I say keep it to yourself, I dont mean your opinion...I mean your choice NOT to have an abortion...I totally respect your choice NOT to have an
abortion....but to have the government be your defender in such a personal matter allows the usurping of our 'god given ability' to have a
free will.....dont let the government get in that deep---it never turns out well......dont let the government in your choice because by giving them an
inch they will follow you through to your death and have a spot in your mind that 'god' should sit.....government is just man's law and the way they
rule is to divide and conquer...dont let the government divide your mind....keep your choice to yourself----BECAUSE YOU CAN AND YOU HAVE
A RIGHT TO.....

??? The US Constitution is NOT up to a popular vote.  It applies to all Americans regardless of Right Wing inspired initiatives.

You are entitled to Your Religion... and the rest of America is Protected FROM You (Conservatives) forcing YOUR Religion on the rest of us.

Tom, is there anything in life that makes you happy?

You obviously have a problem with at least 3 former presidents.
You obviously have a problem with the 3 war fronts the current president has us involved in.
You obviously don't care if a baby/fetus lives or dies (tho I think you'd probably prefer to see it die).
You don't like fracking / resource exploration.

What exactly makes you happy?  It seems that there's not much that does except playing the part of a troll in a community you don't even live in.

and this also applies to those who think social programs get to ride on my back for a 'personhoods' inability to thrive in a manner they think
is sufficient....this also should not be usurped by government.....
