It's clear that mccarthy doesn't have anything new to feed on!!! He is, after all, just a stratton spin off! The city has become so incestuous that now their offspring can't function as normal human beings!!

Let's see what else mcarthy can come up with besides a residency law? It will be fun watching him 'squirm' through this campaign.

Residency rule, pay stall search for Schenectady engineer
Residency requirement, salary listing are making it harder for Schenectady to fill engineer post

SCHENECTADY — City officials had the best of intentions when deciding to finally enforce a law that requires new employees to live in Schenectady.

Now they're having trouble with the first big job that needs filling — city engineer.

In part, that's because it only pays up to $95,000 a year, which is low for experienced engineers.

Meanwhile, the top candidate lives outside the county and said he wouldn't move his family to Schenectady for the job.

The city stopped abiding by the 1988 residency rule after the election in 2003 of Mayor Brian U. Stratton, who believed that in light of the city's fiscal and law enforcement challenges that attracting employees with experience was more important than hiring Schenectady residents.

But Mayor Gary McCarthy has made bringing new homeowners to the city a priority for his new administration — and he is requiring that new employees live in the city or move into Schenectady within six months of taking the job. Employees can get waivers with approval from a five-person residency board.....................................>>>>.....................................>>>>.......................Read more: http://www.timesunion.com/loca.....38.php#ixzz1lu65hDHC

This article can't be true because DV says that people are standing in line to move to Schenectady but can't find any houses for sale. LOL

Doesn't Union College, located right in schenectady, offer and engineering program? Perhaps the city leaders can field candidates from Union that will be graduating this year and see if any graduate would be interested in the job and living in schenectady.

Not any more. I believe the program was discontinued as of 2005. That was a shame really. A Union College Degree for engineering was top of the line.

This is so funny.  Wonder who the top applicants were.  The truth is that they couldnt find an engineer that lives in Schenectady County that was a puppet.

Is this the same DV who REFUSES to buy a house in the city (despite low asking price resulting from plummeting property values, despite record low mortgage rates, despite all kinds of govt handouts???????.

Is this the same DV who REFUSES to even rent an apartment in the city??????

Is this the same DV who REFUSES in any way, manner, shape or form whatsoever to LIVE in the city??????

Isn't AJello an engineer? Perhaps he would be willing to move his family to the city of schenectady and take this position....yes? Or perhaps recommend someone that is will....no?

When the economy is in the toilet the city can't even pay someone to move here for a job that pays $95,000.

They could be offering even more $$$$. But the truth is....there is obviously  no one who lives in the city that is qualified.(big surprise)
And who in God's name would pick up their family from Saratoga, Princetown, Duanesburg, Guilderland, Colonie, Loudonville, Altamont, Malta etc.....and move to SCHENECTADY??? OMG!!!

It would be interesting to hear the reasons/comments why a prospective employee would not want to move here.    Not the usual ones, but the ones that would reflect on the negs. of the city.   Thereby one could  get an outsiders view of the problems that Sch'dy has that deters these prospective applicants.   You can't begrudge someone a decent wage if their qualifications merit such.   But the least they could do is give back to the city via property/sales tax revenue by living here.   And taking an interest in that city's welfare and success.   Is that too much to ask?

Very few middle class people really want to move to the City. We need to come to grips with what the liberal democrap party has done to destroy the City of Schenectady; look in the mirror and be honest to ourselves. Making up stories about this minor statistic or that minor statistic and reading about the great renaissance is only making it harder to come to grips with reality. The City has no hope at all, especially if no one but Riggi admits to a problem.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."
