To be clear, I am not knocking what they do. Personally, I think that Ellis has enough money and space to build on a wing just for this purpose. They just got a whole bunch of money from the ST Clairs deal.
Ellis really does not have that much money...the money from the St Claires deal went to pay off St Claires pension fund and to bring Bellvue up to code...they are barely operating at a profit and with medical reimbursement decreasing the pot is getting smaller and smaller...besides Ellis's Peds unit is like 6 beds and not equipt for any kind of serious conditions. If you lived any distance away (like more than 10 miles) you'd be a fool to send your child there. There's one nurse and one aide per shift for that unit...we're not talking about the type of unit that really needs a place for parents to stay.
So where is this place going to get their funding from?

"The Falvo family has been raising money for five years for the home, named in memory of Jack Falvo III, who died at age 21 in a Jet Ski accident. He was the son of Jack Falvo Jr., assistant chief of the Schenectady Police Department. Family members have finally raised enough money to buy 1100 Nott St., but they will have to take out a small mortgage, which they hope to pay off through future donations."

Like Senders said...it's Jack's money...not the taxpayers.
The DEMS need to stop playing politics with this and approve the purchase. The only reason the first sale was preventing was to screw a REP. 10 bedroom home still for sale on the corner of Wendell and Nott. No one wants to pay over $20,000 a year to McCheese and his idiots? The Plot and entire County are being destroyed by DEM confiscatory taxation.

Refreshing isn't it??????
I 'know' why it is being created. I'm not questioning the motives here. All I'm asking is how they are going to support/furnish this organization from today thru decades from now? (insurance, maint., furniture etc) All donations? And again........will there be 'anyone' on payroll? just askin.........

I know Bumble. Unlike Proctor's which: *receives millions in grants from the State *receives no-interest loans from the Plex (plus tons of plex grants as well) *pays no taxes to the City or Schools *Morris and other financial advisors making $100,000+++ salaries * Plus Proctors gets to keep ALL OF THE MONEY FROM ITS TICKET SALES (sales tax exempt)
One would hope this non-profit will survive on donations and on the merits. Seems that way, in my opinion, because it has no association with the Gillen/Plex/DEM friends and family club.

I'm well aware of the 'proctor's scam'...but that is not the subject here. Since this is another non-profit (and i'm not saying its not a good cause), just was curious as to how they were going to financially support it AND if anyone was going to be on a payroll. So it will be ALL private donations and all volunteers.....yes? And most, if not all non-profits end up getting some form of 'taxpayer, state or local grants' either directly or thru other tax paid organizations....eg: catholic charities. You see....if we are going to donate to ANY organization, we want to know these things.

Oh Bumble, you really have me doing my homework today!!! Here's info from the "Jack's Place" website. Again, in my opinion, this doesn't seem like another DEM haven for political has-beens nor do I see the names of Gillen/McCarthy/Galesi associated with this endeavor. The Gazetto hasn't been their friend either. With all those factors missing...I'd have to say that this non-profit might actually be on the up-and-up!!
