SCHENECTADY Man lauded for repairing city finances BY KATHLEEN MOORE Gazette Reporter
The financial guru who advised Mayor Brian U. Stratton during the worst years of Schenectady’s fiscal mess was named a Patroon on Friday. John Paolino, the city’s finance commissioner from 2004 to 2007, became the last Patroon of Stratton’s tenure. Being named a Patroon is the city’s highest civic honor. It is generally bestowed on city residents who give great service to the city. Paolino, who lives in Rotterdam, not only worked as fi nance commissioner but also served as director of administration in recent years, helping to negotiate the city’s labor contracts and reorganize the code enforcement department. Stratton said Paolino’s contributions to Schenectady “could only be described as immeasurable and priceless.” Paolino came out of retirement to work for Stratton while still balancing a full-time job as supervisor of Rotterdam. ......................>>>>...............>>>>.....................http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r00902&AppName=1
