Oh WOW...Look at that, America buiding drone bases in Africa...Hmmmmmm...Interesting - I never saw that one coming.  Must be gearing up for more "humanitarian" missions against "evil dictators".  Look at the American Press, right on top of things.  It looks like the Defense Department wrote this article for the Washington Post.

U.S. assembling secret drone bases in Africa, Arabian Peninsula, officials say

The Obama administration is assembling a constellation of secret drone bases for counterterrorism operations in the Horn of Africa and the Arabian Peninsula as part of a newly aggressive campaign to attack al-Qaeda affiliates in Somalia and Yemen, U.S. officials said.

One of the installations is being established in Ethiopia, a U.S. ally in the fight against al-Shabab, the Somali militant group that controls much of that country. Another base is in the Seychelles, an archipelago in the Indian Ocean, where a small fleet of “hunter-killer” drones resumed operations this month after an experimental mission demonstrated that the unmanned aircraft could effectively patrol Somalia from there.

The U.S. military also has flown drones over Somalia and Yemen from bases in Djibouti, a tiny African nation at the junction of the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden. In addition, the CIA is building a secret airstrip in the Arabian Peninsula so it can deploy armed drones over Yemen.

The rapid expansion of the undeclared drone wars is a reflection of the growing alarm with which U.S. officials view the activities of al-Qaeda affiliates in Yemen and Somalia, even as al-Qaeda’s core leadership in Pakistan has been weakened by U.S. counterterrorism operations.

The U.S. government is known to have used drones to carry out lethal attacks in at least six countries: Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Pakistan, Somalia and Yemen. The negotiations that preceded the establishment of the base in the Republic of Seychelles illustrate the efforts the United States is making to broaden the range of its drone weapons.

The island nation of 85,000 people has hosted a small fleet of MQ-9 Reaper drones operated by the U.S. Navy and Air Force since September 2009. U.S. and Seychellois officials have previously acknowledged the drones’ presence but have said that their primary mission was to track pirates in regional waters. But classified U.S. diplomatic cables show that the unmanned aircraft have also conducted counterterrorism missions over Somalia, about 800 miles to the northwest....

NATO extends Libya mission for another three months
BRUSSELS, Sept 21 (Reuters) - NATO agreed on Wednesday to a three-month extension of its air and sea campaign in Libya as the country's new rulers try to dislodge well-armed Gaddafi loyalists holding out in several towns.

The agreement to extend the mission, which NATO took full control of on March 31, was reached at a meeting of ambassadors of the 28 NATO states in Brussels, a NATO diplomat said.

It was the second three-month extension to the mission that has involved a campaign of air strikes and a naval mission to enforce a U.N. arms embargo.

I thought it was a humanitarian mission?  Now NATO is fighting side by side with the Rebels to dislodge Gaddafi loyalists?   I guess that's now a proper use of NATO.

As the American sheeple sit by and watch.  The neocons are fomenting more justifications for war, as they ratchet up the rhetoric against Iran and the anti-war liberals are paralyzed because they can't bring themselves to speak ill of Leader Obama's expansion of American military might.

The oligarchy in Washington DC has never been more apparent.  Ron Paul is America’s only hope to awaken the American people.

Sorry, but you must have just seen the thread topic and came here to defend Obama.  This is about the new war he started and is slowly sending more ground troops in, in the name of NATO.

Gaddafi death 'may be a war crime', says chief prosecutor at The Hague

The chief prosecutor for the International Criminal Court has said there are 'serious suspicions' that the death of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi was a war crime.
Luis Moreno Ocampo said he sent a letter to the head of the National Transitional Council asking what the new government's plans are to investigate alleged war crimes by all parties, including the rebels.
The uprising against Gaddafi's 42-year rule erupted in February, quickly escalated into civil war, and ended in October with Gaddafi's capture and death in unclear circumstances.
Witness accounts and video taken of the deposed dictator after his capture by rebel fighters show that he was beaten and abused by his captors, and there were strong indications he was killed in custody.
Mr Moreno Ocampo said.: 'The death of Muammar Gaddafi is one of the issues to be clarified - what happened - because there are serious suspicions that it was a war crime.'
He said what the ICC does on Gaddafi's death and other war crimes will depend on what Libya's interim government does because under the Rome statute that established the war crimes tribunal, the ICC only steps in if national authorities are unwilling or unable to act.

Footage of the moments before Gaddafi's death showed the blood-covered leader being allegedly sodomised before he was killed

It probably was a war crime.

what exactly is a 'war crime'?????

if war in and of itself is a 'crime', who draws the plumb line?

I think sodomizing a prisoner would constitute a war crime.(unless you are in San Francisco).

1-U.S. ambassador to Libya killed in Benghazi attack

BENGHAZI, Libya, Sept 12 (Reuters) - The U.S. ambassador to Libya and three other embassy staff were killed in a rocket attack on their car, a Libyan official said, as they were rushed from a consular building stormed by militants denouncing a U.S.-made film insulting the Prophet Mohammad.

Gunmen had attacked and burned the U.S. consulate in the eastern city of Benghazi, a centre of last year's uprising against Muammar Gaddafi, late on Tuesday evening, killing one U.S. consular official. The building was evacuated.

The Libyan official said the ambassador, Christopher Stevens, was being driven from the consulate building to a safer location when gunmen opened fire.

"The American ambassador and three staff members were killed when gunmen fired rockets at them," the official in Benghazi told Reuters.

There was no immediate comment from the State Department in Washington. U.S. ambassadors in such volatile countries are accompanied by tight security, usually travelling in well-protected convoys. Security officials will be considering whether the two attacks were coordinated.

Libyan deputy prime minister Mustafa Abu Shagour condemned the killing of the U.S. diplomats as a cowardly act.

And the "official" story is that the "extremists" are killing U.S ambassadors and attacking U.S. embassies over a movie.  Are you kidding me?  Do they expect people to actually believe these lies?
