Uh, DV, you WRONG.   Metroplex was to have this extra percent or half percent to fund these projects.  NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER were the taxpayers of the city told nor asked for approval to pay higher property taxes in order to cover the property and school taxes for the for profit business which make millions for their own pockets.   NEVER NEVER NEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The taxpayers were NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER asked for their approval to exempt a couple LONG LONG LONG time scum tax delinquent landlords from paying their back taxes.   The taxpayers were NEVER NEVER NEVER asked for their approval to give a quarter of a million dollars to these tax delinquents for a building that the pair WILLFULLY AND DELIBERATELY caused OVER A MILLION DOLLARS in damage that the taxpyaers have to pay for the repairs!!!!!!!!

Governing "effectively" DOES NOT mean making financially struggling homeonwers pay their own property and school taxes AND making them pay the property and school taxes for the for profit businesses who are millionaires!!!!!!!!!!!!

DV, in case you didn't know, the United STates is NOT a socialist country.  

The millionaires can WELL AFFORD to pay their own property taxes.  Tell us DV, what tax relief to the homeowners get?????   See, DV, you prove over and over again that you have no clue about property and school taxes.  So, to educate you, a typical $100,000 house in the city has a total bill (property taxes, school taxes, trash fee, water fee, and sewer fee) of about $4,500 per year.  Now can you explain to us how a typical city family which has the typical household income of only $30,000 a year is supposed to pay that much in taxes?????????????????    Can you answer that????????

Now, DV, with your total lack of knowledge, your lack of intelligence, you would suggest the family put their house up for sale and move.  Now, DV, tell us, HOW do they pay their mortgage of the city house PLUS the taxes and mortgage or rent in a new place?    Should they rent and risk having tenants destroy the place or use the place as a drug dealing location?   Should the homeonwer leave it vacant and risk vagrants getting in and setting a fire (vacant houses, by the way, are usually not insurable).  Or, DV, should the homesowners just walk away from their house and lose their their equity in the house?  

Which of those choices is the best?????    Now, DV, explain how bad it is for the millioniares downtown??????    Can you illustrate how they are struggling,   Tell us how they are being forced to choose between food or medicine when they have not a care in the word about losing their property to unpaid taxes.

1st  - Metroplex is funded through a portion of the county SALES tax ... you don't need to own property to pay the sales tax.

2nd -  One does not have to be on the deed for a property to help pay the property taxes on the property.

MC1 pointed out that City taxpayer money is given to Bombers. Therefore, the City taxpayers pay this amount, not Rotterdam residents. So as much as DV supports Metroplex, it's the City taxpayers footing most of the bills.

Also, if this info is incorrect, then provide facts to support that. I, for one, would be happy with another conclusion to this.

When a millionaire for profit restaurant chain pays only $8,000 a year City/School property taxes for a large multistory building across from Proctor's-the other residents have to make up the difference. Home owners in the GE Plot, Stockade and Northside pay much more than this. If you have a PILOT someone else must carry your tax burden.

Property tax and sales tax are TWO ENTIRELY SEPARATE types of taxes.  

Sales tax is paid as a percent of the purchase of taxable items by the purchaser based on the county in which the purchaser lives.  If you buy a $20 shirt in a county with 3% county sales taxes, then YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO REPORT THAT PURCHASE when you file your income taxes with the state, and you are to report that purchase because you are supposed to pay the sales tax to the county IN WHICH YOU RESIDE!!!!!!!!!!!     This is not really well known because most people don't read the instruction book for taxes and not much publicity is made of this in terms of crossing county lines.  Most people are a little more aware of this on the state sales tax level (uh, DV, when you make a purchase, part of it is state sales tax and part of it is county sales tax, as your total lack of knowledge on property tax obviously means you don't understand sales tax either), more publicity is made on the state sales tax, which is why there is talk about people going out of state to buy cancer sticks and the purchase of the same on the Indian reservations.   And you'll often hear more about it with respect to internet sales.   There is a specific line on the state tax form in which you are to report this.   Logistically I'm not certain how counties "exchange" what is due to them when you paid 3% at the time of purchase to county X and then you have to pay the extra percent for Schenectady when you file, and vice versa for that matter because you should get a refund if you buy in Schdy but live in a lower taxed county.  Obviously the staff hours time to do all the debitiing and crediting and moving it all and recording would cost more than ignoring it.  So obviously the state probably isn't going to care, nor will a county care, about lost tax on a $20 tee shirt purchase.   But big purchases, buying a car.  Now I'm not 100% positive but I don't think there is one Dodge/Chrysler new car dealership in Schenectady county.  So, if you wanted that make of car and went to, say, Saratoga Co (I THINK the sales tax is only 3% there), then they WILL charge you Schenectady's percent, NOT the county in which you are physically present.  Go to Marcella's and buy an appliance that's taxable but you live in Saratoga, then the sales tax that Marcella's collects from you DOES NOT GO TO SCHENECTADY COUNTY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   It will be paid to Saratoga!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!    And, of course, never owning a house DV wouldn't know this, but the tax exempt wealthy Marcella's doesn't even generate much sales tax for Schdy, because many appliances are exempt from sales tax.

Now, DV, property taxes ARE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE PEOPLE WHOSE NAMES ARE ON THE DEED.    My parents's names are on the deed to their home.    In no way am I obligated in any manner, shape, or form to be responsible or to even help them pay their property taxes.   Nor is that required of them the house that my wife and I own.   There is the STAR exemption, a small one, that reduces our school tax bills HOWEVER WE PAY FOR IT through our high income taxes!!!!   And there is, at the city and county level the low income tax exemption, for people who are really super poor, in the vicinity of $15,000 income.  

DV, hear this, read this, and understand.  There is NOTHING in the Metroplex legislation that provides for the revenue from the sales tax to be used for Metroplex to pay the property taxes on the tax exempt properties.....rather your socialist dem buddies have decided to exempt their millionaire cronies from paying property and school taxes and thus FORCE THE CITY TAXPAYERS to pay those lost dollars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   Again, Metroplex was originally intended to help fund the fixing up, the rehab of some of downtown (and some other areas) properties.  The idea was to get revitalize downtown so people would go there to shop.  NOT so people would go there to get drunk.  It was NOT the intention of Metroplex legislation to spend the money to create a new Y (which does NOT property tax, does NOT pay school taxe, and does NOT pay sales tax), Metroplex was NOT intended to open a multimillion dollar pro-profit hair do school.   Etc.     And all these years, Metroplex has not resulted in stores opening---stores at which we can shop.

And DV, you keep praising metroplex but you fail to give the republicans credit for it, you act like it's a democrat project.   But anything negative about it, you blame it on repulibcans.

But you see, you have to be educated.  The republicans came up with the idea to fix downtown through this Metroplex and have that extra percent of sales tax.   However it was YOUR DEMS that started doing things that were NEVER part of the original metroplex like giving out the 100% tax exemptions for all the millioniares.
